MCDS hosts 5K and Fun Run for health, education, sport and scholarships

Monroe Country Day School’s (MCDS) philosophy includes educating the whole child. Each student is offered a host of health, wellness and physical education programming.

“We have a staff Community Health Specialist and a certified Physical Education teacher. Both work to ensure that our school is a healthy, safe and active environment. In addition to Health and Physical Education, we offer classes and activities which encourage good health habits. MCDS offers healthy eating and living information to our parents which is intended to help keep our community healthy,” MCDS notes in its invitation to the community to join in the annual 5K on March 14, 2020.

MCDS 5K and Fun Run supports Walton County Health Care Foundation, Inc. goal to enhance the overall health of Walton County citizens. The event is open to all of Walton County citizens and advertising focuses on Walton County. MCDS is a 501c3 charitable organization.

This year, MCDS partnered with Winged Foot Running and Walking to promote running. Brian Caerney, the owner, began an eight-week training on Jan. 7. The participants culminating event will be the MCDS 5K. This training is to help community members find a group that supports their efforts to become physically active.

The event is not just to offer the community an opportunity to get in on the healthy initiative, it is also an opportunity to raise funds for scholarships for other students to attend the school and enjoy all the benefits offered by MCDS. As well as an opportunity to take part in the 5K or Fun Run, the event offers an opportunity for sponsorship for local companies to get their name highlighted in the community.

A Title Sponsorship includes:
1. Reference to the event name includes Walton County Health Care Foundation, Inc.
2. Prominent logo and/or Walton County Health Care Foundation, Inc.on all promotions and publicity including, print ads, press releases, and t-shirts
3. Walton County Health Care Foundation, Inc. noted on the MCDS website.
