
The City of Social Circle Police Department recently signed on a new recruit. Charlie, the new K-9 officer joined the department on Oct. 17 and was partnered with Officer Chad Hunt. The pair is currently training together until Charlie can be fully utilized on patrol. He is a 4-year-old Belgian Malinois, highly trained in narcotics detection. Charlie doesn’t come without some experience of his own. He served oversees in the Republic of Georgia for most of his career before joining the Social Circle Police Department.
“He’s very social and has settled in well.” Hunt said.
Charlie was donated to the Social Circle Police Department with the facilitation of the State Department and City of Covington Police Department. Expenses associated with his upkeep and equipment were paid for through asset forfeiture and donations.
“Charlie will be a tremendous asset to the city of Social Circle as we continue to make this community a better place to live, work and play. “said Police Chief Tyrone Oliver.
