Monroe DDA honors sponsors who went above and beyond in 2019

Every year at the annual Monroe Downtown Development Authority sponsorship dinner, sponsors get an update on how local downtown businesses have done, what events were held with the assistance of sponsorship dollars, what new plans are on the horizon downtown and which business were recognized for contributions to the success of the downtown area.

Monday night business owners gathered to celebrate the successes of 2019 and honor the sponsors who helped make the downtown area and all the events possible. Awards were presented for Best Renovation (Golden Hammer Award), Volunteer of the year, Business of the Year, and sponsor of the year.

Business of the Year Business: Winged Foot Running: Brian Kearney. This award celebrates innovative business concepts that attract customers and additional investment to downtown.

Golden Hammer: LR Burger: Chris Collin. This award recognizes excellence in the renovation and remodeling of buildings in downtown.

Sponsor of the Year: Monroe Animal Care Hospital – Dr. Asha Wise. This award celebrates a sponsor that goes above and beyond monetary support by volunteering numerous other resources for the success of downtown.

Volunteer of the Year: Camille Garrison. This award honors the volunteer for selfless service to the betterment of downtown for citizens and visitors

Sadie Krawczyk, Economic Development Director for the City of Monroe and Leigh Ann Walker head up the Monroe Downtown Development Authority. Prior to announcing the awards, Krawczyk gave an update on the events and successes that Monroe Downtown experienced in 2019.
