There is crime scene tape and investigators on location of a fire that occurred on March 5 at a home at 1218 S. Madison Avenue in Monroe. Monroe Assistant Fire Chief Bill Owens said members of Monroe Fire Department responded to smoke in the resident on Monday.
“First arriving crews found smoke conditions coming from the front door of the residence upon their arrival. After deploying hoses and prepare to enter the structure the smoke diminished. Once crews entered the structure no fire or cause of the smoke could be found,” Owens said. “Several hours were spent searching for the cause of the smoke but none were found. The following day the home owner reported back to the Monroe Fire Department that they believe they had found the source of the smoke.”
Owens said currently investigators from the City of Monroe Fire Department, Monroe Police Department & the State Fire Marshal are investigating the cause of the smoke incident.
