Monroe Football Hurricanes Annual Blowout Parade and Pep Rally Thursday

Football season is here and in Monroe and that means the Annual Blowout Parade and Pep Rally is planned for this Thursday, Aug. 22, before the first game of the season Friday. The parade begins at 6 p.m. on Broad Street and is followed by the pep rally on Court Street. The community is invited to come on out and join the cheerleader and bands help get the team fired up for the upcoming season.

The game on Friday is a non-conference home game for the Monroe Area High School football Hurricanes against Winder’s Apalachee High School. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.

Next week, Aug. 30, is the first annual Freedom Bowl between Monroe and Loganville. This year it will be at Loganville Red Devil Stadium and will honor the three fallen heroes from the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts, Maj. David Gray, Lt. Joseph Helton and Sgt. Michael Stokely.
