Monroe PD Report: Assault reports, unwanted texts to child’s phone, Domestic disputes

The Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period April 13 – 19, 2018. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the first part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Dispute, North Broad St., complainant advised she was assaulted by named subject. Complainant did not have any visible marks. Subject was gone when officers. Report taken.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Highway 11, reference to a silver passenger car failing to maintain lane. Officer checked the area with negative contact.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Michael Etchison Rd., reference to a vehicle left on location. Officer made contact with owner who advised the vehicle broke down on him last date. He advised he would remove the vehicle later this date. The staff advised he had until 11 or the vehicle would be towed.
  • Extra Patrol, South Broad St., reference to a named subject who is known to be on location when the residents are not home. Extra patrol requested.
  • Dispute, Ridge Rd., Officer made contact with complainant who advised there was no active dispute going on nor had there been. Third party call. All appeared ok.
  • Unknown Law, West Creek Circle. Complainant advised her niece took her mother out of hospice care at the Hospital. She was concerned for her mother’s welfare and wanted to know her options. She was advised of remedies.
  • Harassment, South Broad St., complainant advised a neighbor in Southside Mobile Home Park, yelled at her and her son, saying he was going to kick their butts. Complainant said this all started because the neighbor spreads lies about her son saying he is a kidnapper and child molester. Complainant was advised of the good behavior warrant process.  Officer’s went to Southside MHP to try and make contact with the subject making the threat but had negative contact. Report taken.
  • Warrant Attempt, South Broad St., Shannon Montgomery on location with an active probation warrant. Montgomery was taken into custody and transported to Walton County Sheriff’s Office.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Highway 138/Spring St., reference to the driver of a U-Haul truck slumped over the steering wheel. Officer conducted a traffic stop on Highway 78 at Highway 11. The driver checked ok, he was just sleepy.
  • Meet with Officer, Wheeler St., reference to a possible stolen vehicle. Officer made contact with complainant who stated on Wednesday night he observed a brand new four door passenger car with the dealer sticker on the window driving recklessly through James Monroe Homes. He advised on Thursday around 1600 hours, he saw a black tow truck pick up the vehicle in a hurry. He just wanted to advise of the suspicious activity.
  • Suspicious Person, Bulldog Dr., reference to two black males’s walking on school property. Officer made contact with subjects who advised they were taking a shortcut. Both were advised to find another route.
  • Hit and Run, Landers St., complainant stated her neighbor’s mother backed from the driveway on Landers St.  into her driveway and struck her daughter’s vehicle. She stated driver #1 told her she had to leave and would be back. Spoke to driver #1’s daughter whom told her mother to come straight back to the residence. After further investigation, call will be a private property accident due to extenuating circumstances.
  • Assault, Ash St., complainant advised named subject assaulted him. Warrants to be taken on named subject for battery.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Nowell St./North Broad St., reference to a subject in a Chevrolet Tahoe making a drug transaction. Officers had negative contact.
  • Child Custody, West Spring St., Sake Express in reference to custody dispute which happened in Newton County between two subjects. Discussed options with them.  
  • Dispute, Store House Court, reference to complainant saying her sister came to the house drunk and she wanted her to leave. Gone when officers arrive. No other issues.
  • Dispute, Wheelhouse Lane, reference to complainant disputing with her sister about her behavior.
  • Dispute, Davis St., complainant said her brother was trying to run her house.  I explained to the brother if he wanted to stay, he had to follow his sister’s rules of the house.
  • Dispute, Carver Place, complainant was upset people picking on her child.  Would not provide information on the other children picking on her child and would not listen to officers when they tried to advise her on what could be done.
  • Prowler, Clubside Dr., Negative contact with anyone under the residence.
  • Dispute, Monroe Estates, crowd being disruptive in the area.  Negative contact with anyone in the area
  • Traffic Complaint, Arnold Point Apt., reference to a vehicle laying drag on Plaza Drive.  Negative contact.
  • Harassing Phone Calls, North Wayne St., reference to a male subject calling Katie’s Dinner multiple times yelling and cussing at employees.
  • Harassing Phone Calls, West Spring St., complainant said named subject has texted and called her 7-year-old’s cell phone.  There is a Temporary Protection Order out to keep named subject from 7-year old.
  • Loud Music in the area of Radford St., made contact with subjects on East 5th street with music coming from their vehicle, the music was turned off. Everything on location ok.
  • Noise Complaint, East Marable St., Officers checked area with no contact with noise.
  • Dispute, Bridgeport Lane, reference to argument between guests in home. No one wanting to talk about what the issue was. No claims of physical violence.
  • Unknown, Harris St., reference to a group in the roadway fighting, a male subject was struck in the face by someone in a group walking in the roadway, the male subject and his wife were uncooperative and did not want to speak to the police.
  • Person Armed, Turner St., reference to black male in all black and black hat waving gun in street. Spoke with people on street having gathered and no one saw anyone with a gun. No other issues with group.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, S. Madison Ave./Atha St., reference to a Red in color Semi parked on the roadside, made contact with the driver who lives on Atha St. She stated she would have the vehicle moved first thing in the morning. 
  • Shoplifting, West Spring St., Walmart while officer was getting ready to leave. An employee alerted the officer to a Anthony Johnson who was walking out with $798 worth of merchandise. Subject was arrest and taken to jail without incident.
