Monroe PD Report: Drugs, gun, sawed-off shotgun found with person sleeping in car

Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period March 2 – 8, 2018. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts, this is the second part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Damage to Property at Cook Street – Complainant said someone broke the front window to her residence.  She believes it may have been her ex-boyfriend.
  • Suspicious Vehicle at Ash Street in reference to a white in color Jeep parked in the roadway everything on location ok.
  • Suspicious Vehicle at the Boys and Girls Club, made contact with the owner, everything ok
  • Vehicle Break down at East Church and South Madison Ave. in reference to a white in color Ford with a dead battery. Vehicle started with jumper cables everything ok.
  • Traffic Stop at Pine Park and Lacy Street. Driver cited for suspended registration. Passenger cited for Possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
  • Suspicious Vehicle at Barret Street in reference to complainant believing her ex-boyfriend is driving a rented Eagle passenger car by her house. No contact with any vehicles.
  • Suspicious Vehicle Davis Street in reference to a vehicle on location with its headlights on. Officer made contact with Kelsey Taylor found sleeping on location. Kelsey displayed signs of drug use, and officer saw a scale with residue, a pipe, and grinder all in plain view. Officer was given consent to search the vehicle. Multiple illegal items were located inside the vehicle. Kelsey was arrested and taken to the Walton County Jail. Vehicle was impounded by Taylors for seizure. Warrant to be taken for possession of Meth, drug related objects, possession of marijuana, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of a sawed-off shotgun. 
  • Loud Music Magnolia Terrace in reference to loud music coming from a vehicle. The vehicle was located and the music was turned down.
  • Fire Assist Breedlove Drive in reference to two juveniles pulling the fire alarm and fleeing on foot toward the American Legion. The juveniles were found by Ridgeview Staff and brought back to Ridgeview.
  • Funeral Assist Young and Levett Funeral Home in reference to assisting Walton County Sheriff’s Office with intersections on Broad Street.
  • Domestic Dispute at Davis Street. Subject’s in verbal dispute. Upon arrival Cornish refused to obey lawful commands of officer by not providing her name and she attempted to leave in a vehicle during the investigation. Cornish arrested for obstruction of LE and later drive-stunned in the leg to gain compliance to get inside the patrol car. Warrant to  be taken
  • EMS Assist, East Spring Street (Popeyes Chicken) – Complainant slipped on a wet spot on the floor.  She was transported to Clearview by EMS.
  • Juvenile Complaint Union Parkway – In reference to a ball being popped.  It was mediated prior to arrival.
  • Dispute Applewood Drive in reference to complainant finding his prescription bottle of pills inside the residence, the pills were taken from his home on H.D. Atha Road. A male subject had been at complainants residence earlier this date and stole the bottle of pills. Complainant did not want to press charges. No verbal or physical argument took place.
  • Road Hazard at North Broad and East Marable Street. Caller said chairs were in road. Nothing from 78 to downtown.
  • Suspicious Persons New Lacy Street, in reference to suspicious people in the area. Area check conducted with negative contact.
  • Gun shots, Stonecreek Drive in reference to the complaint hearing approximately 20 gunshots, area check conducted with negative contact.
  • EMS Assist, East Spring Street – Dollar General – Complainant slipped in front of the store, injuring her leg. Transported to Clearview by EMS.
  • Area Check at Atha Street the complainants were concerned someone has been living in the shed on the property, area checked with negative contact, everything on location ok.
  • Warrant, North Broad Street – Joshua Craft was arrested on warrants out of WCSO.
  • Domestic, South Broad Street Lot – Southside Mobile Home Park in reference to subjects disputing. According to witness on scene Christopher McCart struck female on the mouth. Complainant advised she swung at Christopher after being struck but was unsure if she hit him Witness statements were collected. Another male advised he had found drugs in the restroom due to reading a message which was sent to Christopher McCart through Facebook messenger. Male had searched and found a glass pipe and an off white powdery substance in the restroom and threw it into the trash outside the residence. The glass pipe and the substance have been collected and submitted into evidence. Christopher McCart was placed under arrest for Simple Battert FV, he was fingerprinted at the City of Monroe Police Department and transported to the Walton County Jail and turned over to the jail staff without incident. Report taken. 
  • Juvenile Complaint Davis street – 12-year-old female possibly sending pictures of herself via cell phone.
  • Suspicious Vehicle on west spring street in reference to an SUV driving around building. No vehicle present on arrival. Employees closed store and left while police stood by.
  • Suspicious Activity at Towler Street in reference to hearing someone knocking on their window. Checked the area with negative contact with anyone outside.
  • Theft Report, Hwy 78 West – Waffle House in reference to a unknown name black male subject and a unknown black female subject walking out of the restaurant without paying for their meals. The male subject left in a white in color Hyundai Genesis. The night shift is unable to view the surveillance footage, they advised the manager has access to the system and will be in the store in the morning around 0645-0700 hours. Report taken. Through investigation subject was ID and went out to his residence.  He returned to pay for the food.
  • Prisoner Pickup in White County Detention Center – Jimmie Pugh for failure to appear warrants
  • Traffic Stop 1 Bulldog Drive: Female subject cited with Cancelled Registration and vehicle impounded by Jays.
