Monroe PD Reports: Burglary, shoplifting and mother requests police assistance with 8-year-old son,

The Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period May 4 – 10, 2018. Due to the length, this report was split into five parts. This is the third part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Suspicious person, John Deere Rd. Possibly suspect from homicide. Subject located. Checked ok. Sent on his way.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Old Mill Run/Millstone Bluff. Car in the bushes covered with a sheet and blocking the path to the park. Maroon Dodge Durango located in woods on Old Mill Run. Vehicle towed by towing company at property manager’s request.
  • Dispute, Carver Place, male subject said he was driving a female subject to Walmart in Loganville when an incident occurred in Loganville between the two of them. Female subject completed a report with LPD.  Female subject said she took the keys to his vehicle and he just wants them back. Female subject said she lives in Tanglewood and has a red Camaro with Rockdale tag.  Checked Tanglewood with negative contact
  • Dispute, East Church St., Female on scene disputing a charge. Female was gone prior to officer arrival. All ok.
  • Welfare Check, Carwood Dr., reference to an anonymous complainant stating there is Meth cooking in the residence.  Made contact with residents and had negative contact.
  • Follow Up, Martin Luther King Jr Blvd. Retrieved flash drive with surveillance video. Supplement to be added.
  • Stolen Vehicle, Holly Hill Rd., granddaughter took her grandfather’s vehicle again and has not returned home with it. Granddaughter lives with her grandfather and has permission to drive the vehicle according to the grandfather. All available remedies have been explained to the family about how to handle the situation with granddaughter, but the grandfather refuses to do anything. Vehicle is not stolen, and this is a civil matter.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, White Oak Dr., complainant said the vehicle comes for three or four hours each day. The residence it is parked in front of is # given and was unsecured. Cleared the residence. 
  • Harassment, Rose Ison Terrace, complainant stated an unknown subject with a Facebook name of “James Trump” posted a picture of her on his Facebook page and stated she is a prostitute and does meth.  Report taken.
  • Person Shot, Tanglewood Ln., complainant called in reference to Shaun Barfield being shot in the chest, subject was declared deceased on scene. CID, GBI responded to scene.
  • Juvenile complaint, Launius Ave., mother was having problems with her 8-year-old son. She advised she had it under control now and did not need police.
  • Theft, Reed Way, mother stated her sons cell phone was taken by one of his friends. Report taken.
  • Disturbing the peace, Glenwood Dr., reference to loud music.  Spoke with subjects on location and advised them to turn the music down.  All ok.
  • Suspicious Person, Harris St./East Church St., complainant advised named subject was in the area drunk and going onto people’s property.  Just wanted to make law enforcement aware. 
  • Dispute, Ridge Rd., complainant advised that her ex-boyfriend was on location knocking on the door and yelling.  She advised she believes he was under the influence of narcotics. Ex-boyfriend was gone when officers arrived.  Report taken.
  • Fight, Cook St., while en route dispatch advised the victim would meet at Sorrells St.  Made contact with male and female.  They advised while in the area of Cook St. named male subject struck another subject multiple time’s. Male subject then ran from scene.  Report taken.
  • Burglary, Hubbard St., complainant returned home to find his back-door damage and some of his items missing from home. Report taken.
  • Theft, North Broad St., reference to a customer taking money from the wallet of named subject.  She advised that the male left in a black Honda with damage to the tail light and passenger side door.  Report taken
  • Suspicious Persons, Sorrels St. near Rose Ison Terrace, reference to group of people hanging out near street. Spoke with resident who lives there. Everyone ok.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Country Club Dr., caller advised that a family member was sleeping in her drive way. Made contact with female subject and advised her to leave the property.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Overlook Trail, anonymous complainant stated a minivan and unknown subject were in the area driving slowly and looking at mailboxes, conducted area checks of surrounding sub-divisions with negative contact.
  • Dispute, Davis St., reference to female subject taking male subject’s vehicle. Vehicle returned. Male subject refused charges.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Highway 78/East Spring St., reference to a dark 4X4 truck driving reckless. Officer checked the area with negative contact.
  • Theft report taken at MPD, reference to complainant’s credit card being stolen on 4-30-18. She advised named subject is a suspect. Report taken. 
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Highway 138 toward the city in reference to a white Ford F-150 reckless in the area. Officer had negative contact.
  • Traffic Stop/Warrant Served, North Broad St./Valero. Officer observed a vehicle with a brake light out on the passenger side. Officer informed the driver of the violation and requested all of the occupants for their identification. GCIC returned showing Deon Pope with outstanding warrants out of Walton County Sheriff’s Office and Athens Clarke County Police Department. Pope taken into custody and released to the Walton County Jail.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Highway 11/South Madison Avenue. Officer stopped the vehicle from turning on Church Street. All ok.
  • Domestic, Towler St., complainant verbally disputing with his girlfriend over her cheating. Both parties left the residence separately, situation mediated.
  • Shoplifting at John’s Supermarket, reference to male subject stealing steaks. Subject was gone when officers arrived. Subject will be issued a citation for shoplifting when located.
