Monroe PD Reports: DUI arrest after driver and passenger found asleep at intersection

The Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period March 23 – 29, 2018. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the first part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Lost Item, North Broad St., complainant stated he lost his wallet containing $140.00 cash somewhere between the Valero gas station, and the entrance to Tanglewood.  Searched for wallet with negative findings.  Report taken.
  • Damage to property, Alcovy St., spoke with complainant who came out side to find her car tires slashed. Unknown suspect at this time, report taken.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Sorrells St., Officer noticed a vehicle unoccupied in the middle of the road. Contact was made with registered owner and assisted him by pushing it out of the roadway. All ok.
  • Suspicious Vehicle/Unsecured Premise, Harris St., Door wide open and vehicle windows open.  Church staff was around back in storage building. All ok.
  • Meet with subject on Douglas St., Subject wanted to retrieve property while other occupant not at home. Advise the other occupant has been having a subject name given stay on location doing drugs that has warrants and guns. All ok.
  • Dispute, Gatewood, mother on location attempting to get property for her son who is currently incarcerated. She advised that she did not have any papers on the property she was requesting, and she advised she would take it up to the court house for her son. No report was requested.
  • Domestic, Reed Place, spoke with complainant who had questions about keeping her sister from coming to her home. She was advised to get a Temporary Protection Order or to call police if she is to arrive on location.
  • Accident with pedestrian at Highwyay 78 E/W. Spring St. exit.  Subject advised he was standing by at the entrance to Clearview. Made contact with complainant, advised a black truck traveling east on Highway 78 struck his bicycle at the bridge.  Small scrapes and lacerations, refused EMS.  Turned over to GSP.
  • Theft, West Fambrough St./Bridgeport Place, mother said someone stole her sons bicycle and last saw it heading in the direction of Bridgeport. Checked the area with negative contact.  Report Declined. 
  • Suspicious person, Ashton Point, made contact with subject she is a private investigator. Subject was asked to leave the property and did so. 
  • Civil Matter, couple have been separated and female needed to retrieve property. Belongings were gathered. All ok.
  • Suspicious Person, Baker St., complainant stated someone was hiding in her bedroom. Her apartment was checked with negative contact.
  • Juvenile complaint, East Marable St., mother called in reference to her daughter being unruly and not giving a phone back. Mediated the situation and go the phone back to the mother.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, West Spring St./Breedlove Dr., reference to a silver vehicle driving reckless. The area was checked with negative contact.
  • Entering Auto, Carver Pl., complainant reported that he left his wallet in his vehicle parked in the driveway. When he went to retrieve it, he noticed it was gone. Vehicle was left unlocked
  • Meet Officer at Mathews Park. Amanda Cox called in reference to three juveniles being at the park without adult supervision. Spoke with the children who advised their mother was in the parking lot. Made contact with mother who was in a vehicle in the parking lot. She was advised of the reason behind the call. All ok.
  • Dispute, Gw Carver Dr., While conducting an area check two subjects were observed arguing over the roof of a vehicle. When the officer made contact, it was determined to be two neighbors arguing over property. Both were advised of the civil process. All ok.
  • Reckless Dr., Hwy 83 heading towards the City, reference to a silver sports car driving reckless. Negative contact with any vehicles matching the description.
  • Suspicious Person, Tigers Way, complainant stated a name given was walking around the road acting crazy, he disconnected the phone call with dispatch and would not provide further information. Conducted area check with negative contact with anyone walking.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, 6th St., Complainant stated a black truck pulled into his driveway and was leaving at the time of the call. Conducted area check with negative contact.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Madison Ave/East Spring St., Monroe Fire called, reference to a vehicle stopped at the intersection for multiple cycles. Two occupants in the vehicle were sleeping with the vehicle in drive. James Moore was arrested for DUI.
  • 911 Hang Up, George Walton Carver Homes, contact with resident who advised she was trying to dial 411 and accidentally dialed 911.
  • Suspicious Person, West Spring St. (KFC).  Officer advised by a passerby of a subject that appeared to be trying to get in the door of KFC.  Contacted subject and store manager. Both employees of KFC.  All ok.
  • Suspicious Person, Pine Knoll, complainant advised he saw a black male in a blue jean jacket at his back door and when he confronted him the subject ran through the woods. Possible history of medical issue.
  • Suspicious Person, W Spring St., contact with complainant. He stated he was waiting on a ride but had been for several hours. He was asked to leave the property and did so.
  • Traffic Stop/Arrest, East Marable St./Union St., A traffic stop was conducted after running a tag, which showed the registered owner had a warrant. Made contact with the driver and owner of the vehicle Keely Reed, upon further investigation the warrant was confirmed, and Keely was placed under arrest and transported to the county jail free of incident.
  • Meet With complainant, South Madison Ave., complainant questions on how to resolve speeding problems on South Madison Ave to keep customers safe.  Advised of remedies. 
  • Disturbing the Peace, Armistead Circle, reference to a white male riding a dirt bike with no helmet.  Negative contact with dirt bike.
  • Traffic Stop, N Broad/Tyler. Made contact with driver Kizzy Peters, who had a suspended license. She was then arrested and released at the county jail on citation.
  • Theft, Quality Foods, complainant left her phone and wallet in the buggy and a black female entered the store and took the items and placed them in her purse. When asked about the items the phone was stuffed in between items on isle 7.  Phone was recovered but the wallet was not.
  • Suspicious Person, West Spring St., reference to a white male walking back and forth from Waffle House and Walmart.  Subject appeared to have urinated on himself.  Negative contact with the subject. 
  • Welfare Check, West Marable St., reference to a 5-year-old child with head lice.  She was the only one in the residence with the issue. Possibly picked up from a friend’s house.
