Monroe PD Reports: School fight, domestic disputes and juvenile mischief

The following are the incidents reported by the Monroe Police Department between Feb.3 – 9, 2017. Due to the length, this report has been split into four parts. This is the first part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Dispute, Hardee’s in reference to a black male subject refusing to leave, causing a disturbance. Subject gone upon officer’s arrival.
  • Harassment, Tanglewood Drive in reference to complainant advising she’s being harassed by named subject over a boyfriend –students at MAHS. The females want to fight, after school. Situation mediated.
  • Dispute, Kendal Court in reference two male subjects. One busted the other’s vehicle windshield. Warrants to be taken for Criminal Trespass.
  • Theft at the Monroe Police Department. Complaint was taken advantage of by named subject, who stole $450 from her. Complainant is mentally disabled.
  • Suspicious Person at the Monroe Post Office. Black female on bicycle darting in/out of traffic. Area checked with negative contact.
  • Traffic Stop on Highway 138 at West Spring Street. Subject pulled over for no seatbelt and arrested for possession of marijuana less than one ounce.
  • Traffic Stop on East Church Street at Tall Oaks. Devontae Durden arrested for possession of marijuana and providing false name and date of birth and an active warrant out of Barrow County.
  • Suspicious Vehicle on West Highland Avenue at Day Street in reference to a subject inside smoking. Area checked with negative contact.
  • Dispute, Landers Street in reference to a white male on location refusing to leave. Subject gone upon officer’s arrival.
  • Shoplifting at Dollar General, E. Spring Street; From the video surveillance male and female subjects attempted to steal various clothing items and left in a blue SUV.  Unable to locate vehicle.  Report Taken.
  • Suspicious Vehicle at Mike Cash;  Comp advised that a vehicle was sitting out front with his lights on for the last 30 minutes, unoccupied.  Negative contact.
  • Suspicious Person a Amici’s N. Broad Street; Comp advised that former employee on location driving a box truck, causing a disturbance.  Units checked the area with negative contact.
  • Animal call, Vicious, Tiger’s Way;  Pitbull running large from next door, Animal Control issued the owner a warning, dog returned inside.
  • Suspicious Vehicle at Car Wash near Micheal Etchison;  Comp advised that a black male passed out in a gray Honda, subject woke up and left heading towards Walnut Grove.  Vehicle gone before could make contact, County advised.
  • Suspicious Vehicle at Applebee’s MLK Blvd;  Comp advised that a group of young male subjects in the parking lot smoking 38-D (drugs), Officer was able to make contact and did not detect and 38-D odors, subjects waiting on friends to eat.
  • Warrant pickup at Rockdale Co Jail; Amanda Herrick arrested for Failure to Appear, transported to Walton Co Jail.
  • Suspicious Person at 231 W. Fambrough Street; Comp advised a group of juveniles walking in the area, knocked over her trashcan and knocked off a mailbox.  Area checked, negative contact with juveniles that headed to Bridgeport area.
  • Suspicious Vehicle at Tanglewood Drive; Comp advised that named subject is harassing her daughter in Tanglewood driving around in a gold Ford Focus, negative contact.
  • Suspicious Vehicle at Glen Iris Drive; vehicle broken down, returned ok  to an address on Glen Iris, attempted to make contact with owner, negative contact.
  • Suspicious Vehicle at Plaza Drive; Comp advised seeing a White truck repeatedly driving around the area, Stopped vehicle and checked out subject had valid address on Plaza Drive, Suspicious activity logged.
  • Prowler report, E. Marable Street; complainant said she heard noises outside, area checked, negative contact with any persons in area.
  • Domestic on Old Mill Point in reference to a black male and female fighting in the front yard. Contact made with neighbor who advised incident occurred at Old Mill Point, but no one would answer the door.
  • Traffic Stop on Towler Street at Camptown Garden. Vehicle impounded for no valid insurance coverage.
  • Agency Assist on South Madison Avenue at Pannell Road. WCSO deputy witness two subject chasing each other in the yard, trying to fight, and requested MPD assistance.
  • Felony Traffic Stop, on South Broad Street at John’s Supermarket in reference to a GCIC hit of a stolen vehicle out of Texas. Contact was made with rental company who advised the vehicle was reported missing/recovered, not stolen. Advised to correct the information listed on TCIC/GCIC to prevent further incidents.
  • Domestic, Davis Street in reference to complainant and male subject. Male subject extremely intoxicated and questions was asked about eviction process.
  • Domestic, at Roses. Complainant advised her sister was assaulted by her boyfriend, Rodney Strozier. Strozier was later located and arrested for Battery – Family Violence.
  • Robbery, Davis Street, complainant advised named male subject brandished a weapon and robbed him on his wallet and cell phone over a drug deal. CID was contacted and advised of situation.
  • Dispute, Ash Street. Complainant extremely intoxicated and requested a subject to leave her property.
  • Juvenile complaint, Douglas St – complainant advised that juveniles were knocking down mailboxes. Searched the area with no contact.
  • Domestic, Lacy St – complainant advised that named subject was on location making threats to the family. Named subject who has a medical condition advised that he is having problems with cats coming in his room. Explained options to both parties.
  • Fight, S. Broad St. – complainant was advised by her neighbor that there were subjects fighting in her driveway. Made contact with Christopher Reaves who had an active warrant out of Atlanta for parole violation on a burglary. Arrested and transported to WCSO.
  • Prowler, Baker St – complainant who is possibly suffering from dementia, advised that she heard people outside her window and saw flashlights. Searched the area with no contact.
