Monroe PD Reports: Several reports of gunshots heard

The City of Monroe reported the following incidents for the period Nov. 25 – 30, 2017. Due to the length, this report has been split into four parts. This is the third part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Suspicious Vehicles at  Lopez Lane. Reference to several vehicles in the roadway. All ok
  • Welfare Check at West Spring Street. Reference to a black male appearing to be sick in the area of Rite Aid. Negative contact.
  • Suspicious Vehicle at Alcovy Street & Vine Street. Lisa Bankston was arrested for Driving Under the Influence – Drugs less safe and failure to maintain lane. Vehicle was towed to Jays.
  • Vehicle Breakdown at Felker Street and East Spring Street, Officer assisted in pushing the vehicle out of the roadway All ok.
  • Suspicious Person, West Spring Street. Officer was notified by management that an employee’s ex-boyfriend was on location and refusing to leave. Ex-boyfriend was served with a criminal trespass warning and employee was advised of the Temporary Protection Order process. Report taken.
  •  Unknown Law at Launius Avenue. Complainant said a male lives with her and her niece. Complainant said it began verbal and male began punching her in the head causing a laceration to the back of her neck. Warrant to be taken on male for Battery-FV
  • Lost Item,  West Spring Street. Complainant advised he had already reported his wallet missing, but wanted an Officer to view the video surveillance at the Dollar Tree and see if he left his wallet in the store. The manager on duty did not know how to operate the video system. A follow-up will be conducted on a later date.
  • Theft Report at East Fambrough Street. Complainant advised an unknown suspect entered her home and stole a small flat screen TV. Complainant did not have any paper work on the TV and did not know the serial numbers. Report taken.
  •  Meet With Officer, South Madison Avenue. Reference to Xavier Durham turning himself in.
  •  Theft in progress at  West Tall Oaks. Officer made contact with homeowner and she advised all was ok.
  • Fraud Report, West Spring Street (United Community Bank) suspect attempted to cash a check in the value of $1,796.23. The clerk being familiar with the account it was written from contacted the business and they advised the check was fake. Report taken. Warrants to be taken  for Forgery 3rd degree
  • Unknown at  West Marable Street .Complainant advised a male subject pushed her 12-year-of-age son to the ground. WTBT on  for simple battery.
  • Juvenile Complainant Reed Way Contact was made with a juvenile who advised that a physical altercation occurred with another juvenile while on the school bus this date. The juvenile did not know the other involved party’s name or address. Report taken and parents were advised to follow up with school.
  • Dispute, West Spring St (McDonalds) Complainant reported that a supervised visitation between his granddaughter and her biological father was turning into an argument. Wanted documentation for legal purposes. Misc. incident report completed.
  • Shoplifting, East Church St (Chestnut Cupboard) clerk stated a black male entered the store and concealed candy while walking out past point of sale. Suspect was gone when officers arrived. Clerk wanted suspect banned from store and area was checked with negative contact.
  • Fraud Report at  Union St. Complainant advised that her Debit card was used at Arby’s while she was at work this date. Employees at Arby’s advised that they were having trouble with credit card machine and transaction dates were a month behind. Complainant was provided with Arby’s customer service number. No crime occurred.
  • Suspicious Person at West Spring St and North Wayne St. Passerby reported a black male was walking in roadway. Male was located and provided a ride to Huddle House.
  • Dispute at East Fambrough St. Granddaughter disputing with grandmother at the location. Granddaughter was extremely intoxicated. Situation was mediated and parties were separated for the evening. Granddaughter and her husband (sober) went to get a hotel for the night.
  • Juvenile Complaint at  New Lacy St. Resident stated there were serval juveniles walking in the woods. Area checked with no contact.
  • Traffic Stop India Cameron was stopped for equipment violations and arrested for DUI , Head light requirements, tail light requirements, suspended tag, and failure to use turn signal.
  • Discharging Firearms on King St. Area check completed negative contact.
  • Dispute at  Davis St. Dispatch advised they could hear a verbal argument in the back ground, but caller never spoke to dispatch. Contact was made with female who stated that she called by accident and everything was ok.
  • Suspicious Vehicle at Walmart. Red Chevy sedan. Caller stated prior to turning in to Walmart the Vehicle was driving reckless and not maintaining its lane. Area checked with negative contact.
  • Discharging Firearms at  East Church St. Area check completed with negative contact.
  • Request to area check the area of Green Street in reference to hearing 3 gun shots. negative contact
  • Suspicious Vehicle at Hwy 81 and Bold Springs Rd. Vehicle was not observed inside the city.
  • Dispute at  Bridgeport Lane. Monica Mother verbally disputing with daughter. Mother informed of the eviction process. Situation mediated.
  • Suspicious Vehicle Hwy 78 West Bound coming from Cattle Barn Rd, in reference to a flatbed  truck with no tail lights. Area Checked for the vehicle with negative contact.
  • Reckless Drive on North Board Street near the All Star Gas Station.  White mustang with a racing strip driving reckless.  Unable to make contact to watch for violations.
  • Dispute Radford Street in reference to male knocking on the door of complainant’s home and she stated he returned a Christmas tree that belongs to her and left it on the front porch of the residence. she had no contact with male this date other than him knocking on the door. Complainant stated male wants to work out their relationship problems but she does not want to. She stated she was getting TPO today. She was advised to call if he returned
  • Dispute at Bridgeport Lane re explained the eviction process to both parties
  • Threats Report E Tall Oaks Drive in reference to complainant receiving a text from a male subject named Jim, complainant does not know Jim’s last name, the text message from the Jim subject stated he was going to tell Advantage that the complainant sells pills and smokes weed. Complainant stated he heard Jim say last night he was going to kill a girl by the name of Brandi and a guy named Brad. Complainant does not know their last names. Complainant stated Jim and Brandi argued in his yard last night but stated the police were not called. Complainant stated Jim did have a knife while he was at his residence making threats. Complainant was advised to call if he comes back.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, MLK Jr Blvd at the Valero in reference to Gold Lexus with NY tag on location with a black male inside and the vehicle on a jack.  Spoke to male he is waiting on a friend to bring back his tire after it gets fixed.
  • Shoplifting Walmart in reference to Scott McCoy walking past the point of sale with a toy and taking it to his vehicle in an attempt to steal the item. while on location a second shoplifting suspect was brought to the LP office by the LP employee . The second subject Brandon Still was observed pulling the bar code labels off 3 items of merchandise, then paying for the other items in the shopping cart. Both Scott McCoy and Brandon Still were placed under arrest and transported to the City of Monroe Police Department, fingerprinted and released on copy of citation.
  • Trespassing, Bryant Road at Athens Tech. Maintenance man,  advised someone has been squatting in the ticket booths facing Edwards Street.  He requested that MPD check the area at night, and to charge violators that are found on location after hours. he handed over a key so officers could make entry into the field area from Edwards Street.
  • Suspicious Person, West Spring Street at Little Caesars in reference to a black male wearing a blue puffy jacket and gray sweat pants looking in the windows of the store front. Employee stated the male walked up and down the strip with his hands in his pants looking through the windows of every store multiple times. She advised it looked as if the male was casing the place. She stated the only store he went into was Verizon. The Verizon employees told her the male only walked around then left. Officer conducted an area check with negative contact.
  • Damage to property  West Spring Street –  advised sometime between 0445 hours and 1356 hours this date, an unknown person(s) damaged her vehicle in the parking lot while she was working.  No video surveillance footage available at the time of the report.
