Saturday is the opening day for the Monroe Farmer’s Market and you’re invited to get in on the festivities of the day as the annual Spring Fling in downtown Monroe welcomes the 2017 Monroe Farmers Market season. You can visit the Historic Courthouse, Court Street and Midland Avenue and see local businesses and organizations that will be promoting their summer activities for children. There will be face painting, moon walks, games, activities and more all around the Historic Courthouse and the City of Monroe will have fire trucks, and police cars for children to look at and enjoy.
The Monroe Farmers Market provides local growers an outlet to showcase and market products and helps publicize the importance of locally grown products while allowing citizens of Monroe and the surrounding area the opportunity to buy healthy, locally grown products and to improve their quality of life. The Monroe Farmers Market is also a Wholesome Wave market, which means EBT dollars spent at the market are doubled.
The Monroe Farmers Market is held every Saturday, starting May 13 to Oct. 14 on Court Street in Downtown Monroe. The market hours are 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. every Saturday, except in the case of rain, when it will be closed. You can keep up with the weekly items for sale and other special events by following the Monroe Farmers Market Facebook Page! There also is live music at every market! If you would like to perform for one of the Saturdays, you can email for details.
This Saturday, you can shop the latest fresh produce from local farmers, let the children enjoy the fun of the Spring Fling and stroll through downtown to visit local businesses and see what all they have to offer.
