SHOW DATES:  January 8 – February 7
Drop Off:  Thursday & Friday, January 3 – 4 @ 11 am – 4 pm
Pickup:  Friday & Saturday, February 8 – 9 @ 11 am – 5 pm
Reception & Awards:  Thursday, January 24 @ 6 – 7:30 pm

FEES (for up to three entries)
Adult:  $35
Youth (ages 10 – 17):  $5 per entry. Please list child’s age on form.

AWARDS: Categories: 2-D, 3-D, Functional Pottery, Photography, Fiber and Youth – first and runner up in each.  Also Best in Show.  Cash prizes will be awarded.

If you’re a current member, you should have gotten a Guidelines and Registration Form via email. Email Hope and request one if you don’t have one. You can also pick a copy up at the Center.

WALTON WRITERS HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE: Tuesday, December 4 from 5:30 – 8 pm. Drop in or stay the entire time. If you have a favorite snack you’d like to bring, please email Barbara Barth. Not required but very much appreciated. If you haven’t been to our meetings now is the perfect time to get acquainted. We’re planning a great 2019.

We are not exchanging presents, but if you are so inclined there is a donation jar for the Monroe-Walton Center for the Arts to thank them for hosting us every month in this beautiful location.

Note: Our meeting date for December has been moved from Thursday to Tuesday due to the Monroe Christmas Parade on Thursday.

MONROE CHRISTMAS PARADE:  Thursday, December 6 at 6:30.  Don’t miss Santa coming to town in our fun hometown parade!  We will be open before and during the parade until 8 pm.  Come browse the best local artist gift market around!

SECOND SATURDAY OPEN MIC NIGHT:  Saturday, December 8 from 7 – 9 pm.  This month’s Open Mic is hosted by The Southern Pen Bookshop with owner/author Tori Bailey as MC.. Storytelling with Tori Bailey, Lori Duff, Marlene Ratledge Buchanan, Harold Melton, and more. Join us for comedy, storytelling, poetry, and music — Second Saturday of the month! If you are interested in getting a few minutes on stage – let us know! Email Barbara .

Holiday Chocolates: back by popular demand!
Wed. Dec. 5 @ 6 – 8 pm OR
Fri. Dec. 21 @ 6 – 8 pm

Treat yourself to a new skill this Holiday season. We will learn to easily temper for glossy, crisp results. Maria Ramos will share her original recipes for fruit creme and nut butter centers. You will carry home a pound of beautiful fresh bon-bons in a gift box.  Special pricing for 2 people, make it a date night or girls get together. Ages 14+. $20 members / $25 non-members.  $22 supply fee includes 1 lb. of chocolate plus other ingredients/supplies(2 people are welcome to share the supplies!)

Saturday, Dec 8 @ 10:30 – noon.

Instructor: Rebecca Braswell.  Create your own clay angel to give (or keep!). Perfect for your mantle or tabletop. The angel shown is approximately 10″ tall. Angels can be antiqued or glazed with creamy white. Fee: $40 for members; $45 for non-members. All supplies included. You must pre-register with the instructor, email Rebecca @ at least 24 hours in advance. Class limit: 8.

Hand-Stamped Tea Towels:
Two dates to choose from:
Fri 12/14 @ 5-7;
Sat 12/15 @ 11-1.

Play with your food! Explore the beautiful shapes of nature while creating unique tea towels.  Maria Ramos will teach design pattern basics and color combining as you learn how to turn common fruits and vegetables into stamps. Ages 14 and older. Ages under 14 are welcome to join with an adult at no additional cost.  $20 members / $25 non-members.  $10 supply fee includes 2 tea towels and all other supplies; extra towels available for $3.

Volunteer Orientation
Our next Volunteer Orientation will be in January – stay tuned!  Volunteers are needed to act as assistants in our special needs classes.  Please email Shay Youngblood, our coordinator for these classes, if you would like to be placed on our volunteer list to contact when these classes are scheduled.
