ATHENS, Ga. (Dec. 4, 2018) – The Morton Theatre Corporation (MTC) joins forces with Monroe’s On Stage Walton to present a Holiday Cabaret show on Tuesday, Dec. 18, from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Fourteen acts will celebrate the diversity of the Athens and Monroe arts communities on the historic Morton Theatre Stage, with music, dance, improvisation, poetry and stand-up comedy.
“It’s the second year for the Morton Theatre Corporation to put on a holiday show, and we are beyond thrilled to partner with OnStage Walton for this unique event,” said MTC Programming Chair Leara Rhodes.
Athens actress and vocalist Amy Miller will serve as both master of ceremonies and performer. Other musical acts will include famed vocalist Calvin Orlando Smith; a jazz band directed by Ben Robinson with singer Cass Robinson; mother-daughter singing act Kerri and Kaylee Brooks from Monroe; former Athens country singer Caroline Monroe Boyd; and the ¡MOYUBA! drummers. Erin Sheehan from Monroe will dance.
Comedy will be provided by the wildly unpredictable On Stage IMPROV group, which calls itself “Walton County’s best (and only) improvisation group;” plus two stand-up comedians: Paul Guillebeau and Doug Monroe. Storyteller Murray Weed will present a Christmas poem.
A $5 donation at the door is suggested for this family-friendly show.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the performance begins at 7 p.m.
