MPD Report: Fake $10 bill, solicitation attempt and patient checks out of hospital with IV still in

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Jan. 25 – 31, 2019. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the final part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Traffic Stop, West Spring St./Plaza Dr., an officer was patrolling the area when a vehicle pulled out and nearly caused an accident. The officer conducted a traffic stop. The driver was identified. During the course of the stop, it was found that the driver had a suspended license. He was taken into custody and transported to the Monroe Police Department.  He was fingerprinted and released on a copy of his citation for driving while license suspended.  He was also cited for failure to yield while entering the roadway.
  • Suspicious Person, Home Depot, Malik Plant sleeping in a car outside Home Depot. The subject had parole violations from New Jersey. He was arrested and transported to the Walton County jail.
  • Traffic Stop, North Broad/Perry St., Thomas Davis stopped for driving while license suspended/warrants. While on the scene, Thomas attempted to eat unknown narcotic and resist arrest. Thomas was transported to the hospital, cleared, then the jail. Warrants were taken for driving while suspended, possession of schedule II, destruction of evidence, and obstruction.
  • Dispute, Sweetgum Dr., met with the complainant. She stated her cousins were arguing over the power cord / plug in that wasn’t supposed to be used. Both parties were separate, and the situation was mediated.
  • Assault, North Broad St., complainant said she was staying with her sister on E Sorrells St. with her boyfriend.  The boyfriend said they were asleep when the sister woke up punching him in the face. No visible injury. No family violence. Boyfriend and complainant left via a Lyft driver and went to Waffle House then called the police.  Report taken.
  • Lobby Call, South Broad St., reference to a subject by the name given trying to entice 16-year-old for sexual favors in exchange for money on   01/28/2019. Report taken.  Officers were notified.
  • Dispute, Ash St., two subjects involved in a physical altercation. Female had no visible injuries. Male was gone when officers arrived. Report taken.
  • Meet Person, Sorrells St., met with the complainant who is trying to retrieve some of her items from a male subject. Ga Tag # was on location came back to male subject No contact with anyone at the residence.
  • Suicide threat, Windsor Dr., complainant stated that her husband had left the house and told her that he was going to kill himself. Officers located the husband on East Church St. and detained. Husband was turned over to EMS for mental patient transport.
  • Counterfeit, Popeye’s, employees stated a male attempted to pay with a fake $10 bill. After confronting the customer, the customer left the location in a dark-colored Tahoe. The employee stated they would wait till the next date and speak with management to see if they would like a report.
  • Civil Dispute, Radford St, reference to two subjects arguing over a lease agreement. Civil Remedies were explained.
  • Traffic Stop, South Madison/ Walker St., David Mathis riding bike with no lights. Arrested for Walton County Sheriff’s Office probation violation warrants.
  • Dispute, Tanglewood Dr., two subjects on location disputing over money. Due to conflicting stories and witnesses not cooperating officer unable to determine the aggressor. Parties were separated and do not live together. report taken
  • Meet with Piedmont, reference to male subject leaving the ER with his IV still in. Officer Checked Chestnut Lane with negative contact.
