MPD Reports: 2 $100 bills allegedly found in a parking lot turned out to be counterfeit

The City of Monroe reported the following incidents for the period Nov. 28 to Dec. 5, 2019. Due to the length of this report, it has been split into five parts. This is the first part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Discharging firearms – Springer Ln. Complainant advised she heard 6-7 shots in the area. Multiple people in the area advised they heard the shots. An extensive area check was conducted with negative contact. 
  • Dispute – Ridge Rd. In reference to complainant disputing with a subject over a wallet. The subject was gone on arrival. The complainant was advised of remedies. Report taken.
  • Citizen flag down – South Broad St, MPD parking lot. Subject requesting to donate food.
  • Dispute – W. Spring St., Piedmont Walton. A subject was dissatisfied with hospital care. She was advised of remedies.
  • Warrant arrest – W. Spring St., Wal-Mart. Officers working side job at Wal-Mart observed a subject who was arrested for MPD Failure to Appear warrant.
  • Flagged down – N. Broad St. Golden Pantry in reference to a subject having felony warrants out of Barrow County and possibly being at residence on Wall Street.
  • Warrant attempt – E. Church St. Attempted contact with the above subject who has aggravated assault and aggravated battery warrants out of Barrow County. Negative contact.
  • Dispute – S. Hammond Dr. in reference to complainant verbally disputing with her roommate. Situation mediated, all ok.
  • Follow up – Piedmont Walton – Complainant wanted to make a report about her and another subject who were in a physical altercation. The complainant did not wish to press charges at this time.
  • Dispute – Knight St. – Two subjects in a verbal dispute. One subject is a family member who does not live on location. Parties separated and mediated.
  • Counterfeit – E. Church St. Marathon – Subject stated she found two $100 bills in the parking lot of the Murphy USA. The subject said she came to the gas station to purchase gas, cigarettes and a lotto ticket with the money. After gathering all of the information it was determined that the subject was unaware the bills were fake. The bills were taken and placed into evidence for destruction.
  • Dispute – Lacy St. – Complainant was in a verbal altercation with her daughter about complainant not wanting the daughter to take her child because she was intoxicated. The daughter got upset and physically shoved her mother to the ground and began to break stuff inside the house before leaving. Warrants were taken out on the daughter for Family Violence, Simple Battery and Criminal Trespass.
  • Suspicious Vehicle – Felker Park – A subject was on location. Marijuana was discovered within the vehicle. He was issued a city citation.
  • Dispute – Booth St./Sorrells St. in reference to a third-party caller stating a male and female were fighting on the side of the road. The caller stated the woman’s face was bleeding. Officers patrolled the area and had negative contact.
  • Suspicious Vehicle – Monroe Estates – A silver in color Lincoln Navigator, was parked in the undeveloped area of Monroe Estates. Contact was attempted with the registered owner.
  • Dispute – E. Spring St. – Monroe Motor Inn in reference to complainant wanting her 19-year-old daughter to leave with her. Complainant was advised that daughter is an adult and can make her own decisions.
  • Animal Complaint – Atha St. – in reference to a loose canine. Canine was secured in backyard and the owner was notified.
  • Trespassing – Etten Dr in reference to someone is coming over to her house to put shavings out for their dog.
  • Agency Assist – Davis St.: GSP requested a MPD Unit to stand by while he searched a vehicle.
