MPD Reports: Alleged $10,000 extortion attempt to withhold illicit affair info from wife

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Sept. 26 – Oct. 3, 2019. Due to the Length this report has been split into five parts. This is the first part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Found Property – Marable Ln. / E. Marable St.: Complainant is a city worker found personnel identifications on the side of the roadway while picking up trash. Report taken. 
  • Agency Assist – W. Spring St. (Wal-Mart): An agent observed a subject jiggling vehicle door handles. The subject was placed under arrest.
  • Meet With – S. Broad St.: Complainant said her neighbor is acting creepy. Advised of the criminal trespass warning and good behavior warrant process.
  • Shoplifting – W. Spring St.: Subject on location attempted to shoplift makeup. She was arrested and released on citation.
  • Theft – Tyler St. (1St African Church): Complainant stated that he is missing a catalytic converter off the church van. Report taken
  • Domestic – Meadow Walk Dr.: Between Mother and Son in reference to a civil matter. Options Explained. Son arrested for Probation Violation.
  • Wanted person – Alcovy St. Subject had a warrant for her arrest. Officer Gibbs transported the subject to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office.
  • Runaway juvenile – Nowell St Subject ran away from home. Later subject was located.
  • Loitering / Shoplifting – Harry’s Marathon; In reference to several juveniles on location loitering in the parking lot. The subject stole a pie and received a criminal trespass warning from the store after he paid.
  • Stolen Car – Atha St. in reference to a vehicle recovered in Morgan county.
  • Shots fired – Cook St; In reference to two subjects disputing with subjects in the roadway and someone firing two gunshots in the air. A slender black male with short hair, red shirt, and black pants fled the area when Officer’s arrived and was not located.
  • Theft – N. Broad St. GW Carver. The complainant advised that a male took her handgun and stated that he was going to the trail to shoot it. She was attempting to sell it to him but did not want to go with him on the trail. The male then left with the gun and never returned. She did not know what trail he was talking about, conducted an area check no contact.
  • Prowling – Davis St.; Complainant reported seeing subjects with flashlights at the vacant residence behind her on Pine Park St. Negative contact with anyone on location, the residence was secure.
  • Suspicious Vehicle/Damage to Property – Roosevelt St. Reference to a 2000 Chevy Silverado abandoned by the residence near the wood line. The vehicle was removed by Taylor’s.
  • Dispute – Booth Dr. Reference to a verbal dispute between two subjects. The situation was mediated. Subjects do not live together. All ok.
  • Suspicious Vehicle – Baker St. In reference to a male subject asleep in a Ford truck. Officer made contact with the subject who advised he is in the process of purchasing the apartments and that his 15-year-old son was asleep in the truck. All ok.
  • Theft report – S. Broad St., Wells Fargo. In reference to complainant discovering items missing from his safe deposit box. The bank advised that a family member with legal paperwork from the probate court removed the papers last date. The complainant was advised of remedies.
  • Fraud – W. Spring St. – Harry’s Marathon in reference to subject cashing a bad check.
  • Fraud – S. Broad St., MPD. Complainant reports an unknown female attempting to extort $10,000 cash for holding information about an affair from his wife.
  • Damage to Property – Bryant Rd. Reference to the complainant having eggs thrown at his vehicle during the night.
  • Theft – S. Broad St., MPD. Complainant advised her Charles Daly Honcho Tactical Pump 20 gauge shotgun was taken sometime between Sept. 20 and Sept. 26 from her residence while she was in Miami. No forced entry.
  • Follow up – Roosevelt St. in reference to the complainant having her property damaged earlier this date.
  • Dispute – S. Broad St., Southside MHP in reference to father verbally disputing with his daughter. Situation mediated.
