MPD Reports: Attempted auto entry on McDaniel revealed subject had a gun in hand; man wanted son’s dog removed after his son’s arrest

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Sept. 27 – Oct. 3, 2024. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the second part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

• Entering Auto – McDaniel St – In reference to Complainant reporting a male subject attempted to gain access to her brother-in-law’s vehicle overnight and also attempted access to her vehicle. Video footage was observed of what appeared to be a light skinned black male wearing a hood, mask, and gloves pulling on the vehicle’s door handle before exiting camera view. The subject was also carrying a firearm in his left hand. Report taken and case number provided.
• Disturbing the Peace – Davis Street- Reference to a possible fight at a block party. Area checked, no large gathering or fight observed.
• Vehicle Unlock – Plaza Dr- The complainant locked his keys out of his Honda Accord. Vehicle unlocked with no damage.
• Suspicious Person – S Broad Street; Chevron- Call in reference to a Hispanic male on a bicycle, unable to maintain his balance. Area checked, male was gone when officers arrived.
• Warrant Attempt- 6th Street- In reference to locating a named male subject and taking him into custody. Negative contact at the residence.
• Vehicle Accident- 195 MLK Jr Blvd @ Zaxbys- In reference to a two vehicle accident in the drive through. Minor damage, no injuries. Report taken in GEARS.
• Juvenile Complainant – E Church St- Reference to a motorcycle riding up and down the street. Contact was made with both parties. Remedies advised.
• Traffic Stop/Arrest – Hwy 78E/Unisia Drive- Traffic stop conducted due to no working tail lights. The driver was later found to have an active warrant for FTA out of Gwinnett County and a suspended license. The subject was arrested and fingerprinted at MPD for driving on suspended and then transported to the WC Jail on both the warrant and the suspended license charge.
• Business alarm – 1217 W. Spring St; Citi Trends- All doors and windows secured, no contact with any subjects on location.
• Dispute – GW Carver Dr, – In reference to a verbal dispute between two subjects. Remedies advised, parties separated.
• Vehicle Unlock – Tanglewood Dr; Mazda, vehicle was unlocked without damage.
• Vehicle Unlock – Classic Trl- Vehicle unlocked, no damage.
• Dispute – GW Carver Dr, – In reference to another dispute at the location between two subjects. The complainant was gone when officers arrived. Contact was made with person who was on sight. They stated that they argued over a missing house key again. The onlooker stated there was no physical altercation, nor did he have any marks on his body that would show otherwise. Contact was made with one subject via telephone who also stated that nothing physical occurred. The onlooker was sent on his way. Report taken.
• Suspicious Vehicle – South Broad St @ Hardees; Reference to a road rage incident between two drivers. Contact was made with both parties, who were sent on their way without issue.
• Vehicle Accident – GW Carver Dr,- In reference to a small accident in the parking lot, minor damage, report taken in GEARS.
• Vehicle Unlock – Johns Supermarket – Vehicle unlocked. No damage.
• Dispute – Ridge Road- Verbal dispute between two subjects. Parties separated, civil remedies advised.
• Accident- W. Spring St; Walmart- Two vehicle accident without injuries. One party was gone when officers arrived and there was no damage to the complainant’s vehicle, report taken.
• Dispute – Union St; – Dispute between two subjects, one subject willingly left the residence for a few hours to allow things to cool off. Remedies were advised.
• Vehicle Lockout – MLK JR Blvd @ Mister Carwash; In reference to a silver passenger car. Vehicle unlocked, no damage.
• Warrant Service – Nowell St- In reference to service a warrant on a named subject for Theft By Deception. He was located inside the residence where he was arrested and transported to Walton County Sheriff’s Office without incident.
• Civil Issue – Michael Etchison Rd – In reference to Complainant wanting his son’s dog removed from his residence after his son was arrested last date. Advised to contact animal control for further assistance.
• Welfare Check – Bankers Blvd – In reference to a welfare check on a male subject. Contact made with subject behind Applebee’s who advised he had recently been released from the hospital and from jail and was trying to get back on his feet. All appeared okay with him and I went back into service without incident.
• Dispute – N Broad St; Susie’s Wings: In reference to the complainant advising of a customer causing a disturbance and fled the scene prior to her being able to get a description. Remedies provided.
• 911 Hang-up – Maple Ln – In reference to a 911 hang-up, dispatch advised someone yelled shut up on the other line. Contact made with a juvenile and his mother who advised all okay.
• Suspicious Vehicle – Mathews Park – Vehicle on location after hours, subject was made to leave.
• Loud Music – Baron Dr. In reference to a large crowd on location. Crowd dispersed when officers arrived on scene.
• Domestic- Walton Road – In reference to a subject breaking into the residence of his ex-girlfriend. He was arrested for FVA Criminal Trespass, FVA Cruelty to Children in the 3rd degree X-2, and Obstruction
• Domestic – Baker Street – In reference to a male and female couple in a domestic dispute. The male was arrested for Family Violence simple assault was transported to the WCSO jail without incident. Warrants taken
• Firearms – Pine Park: In reference to the complainant advising he heard two gunshots. The area was checked, and negative contact was made.
• 911 Hang-up – Ammons Bridge Rd. – Weather-related. All okay per homeowner on location.
• Dispute- Sorrells St. – In reference to a female subject disputing with subject. She was arrested for FV Battery, Criminal Trespass, and Cruelty to Children. She was turned over to WCSO without incident.
• Accident – Bankers Blvd / W Spring St. – Two-vehicle crash with one injury by complainant. Subject was cleared by EMS. GEARS report completed.
