MPD Reports: Bat on a porch, 3 people stuck behind gate, hit and run and slew of domestic disputes

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Dec. 12 – 19, 2019. Due to the length, this report has been split into four parts. This is the first part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Juvenile run-a-way – at Old Mill Point. In reference to complainant reporting her grandson. as a runaway. The juvenile was located and returned home. All ok. Report taken. 
  • Mental Patient – W Spring St., Piedmont Walton. In reference to 15-year-old, not cooperating with staff and has a signed mental evaluation. Situation mediated. All okay.
  • Roadway blockage – at Highway 11 and Highway 78 WB in reference to trash blocking the roadway. Monroe Public Works removed that trash to re-open the roadway. Walton County Sheriff’s Office was advised in reference to the truck dumping trash down Hwy 11.
  • Welfare check – E. Spring St., Short Stop. Ref to subject on location offending staff and customers with odor. FISH declined to help. The subject was barred from location and transported to Athens homeless shelter by Short Stop employee.
  • Agency assist – at Harris St. Legion. Ref to Monroe Code Enforcement on location caught a subject in the act of spray-painting graffiti. Arrested for criminal trespass. Needing a prisoner transport.
  • Harassment – S. Broad St., MPD. The subject reports his ex-girlfriends’ new girlfriend is sending him threats on social media.
  • EMS assist – Gliding Ln. In reference to subject detoxing off opioids. Turned over to EMS.
  • Juvenile complaint – Tanglewood Dr. near mailboxes. Complainant reports a video of her son fighting yesterday was shown to her daughter at school today.
  • Welfare check – Tanglewood Ln. An anonymous complainant advised subject on location with drug history and has 3 children. All ok and healthy. This complainant was also the person who called in reference to the Lacy St. call from earlier. All okay.
  • Dispute – S. Broad St. Southside MHP. In reference to a subject needing the key to her ex- boyfriend’s vehicle. He agreed for her to have the key to her son’s vehicle upon his request, but did not want her to drive the vehicle without registration or insurance. The key was retrieved and the subject was advised to have the vehicle towed.
  • Dispute – W. Spring St., Family Dollar. subject arguing with employees about camera footage. Situation mediated.
  • Missing Person – Heritage Trace – In reference to a subject leaving the residence on foot. Area was searched by Officer. The missing person was not located. He was entered onto GCIC.
  • Dispute – E. 5th St. – Boyfriend and girlfriend had a verbal altercation over Facebook. The girlfriend was gone on upon the officer’s arrival.
  • Damage To Property – W. Spring St.; Walmart- Complainant reported someone slashed the tires to her vehicle around 1420 hours. Camera footage unable to be viewed and report taken.
  • Suspicious Person – Chic-Fil-A. A subject on location possibly intoxicated. Contact made; subject identified as the missing person from the earlier call. He was returned home and taken off GCIC.
  • Animal Complaint – Davis St. in reference to a bat on the complainant’s back porch. She was advised to call an exterminator.
  • Loitering – S. Broad Street – In reference to a subject on location for an extended period of time. He was arrested for failure to appear warrant from WCSO.
  • Welfare Check – Ridge Road: In reference to Clark County checking on a subject making threats to a Physician in their jurisdiction. Negative contact.
  • Dispute – Bridge Place: in reference to complainant disputing with the father of her child over a blanket. Report made.
  • Traffic Control – S. Broad Street: In reference to children crossing the street.
  • Damage to property – Pine Crest Dr. Ref to paint on the mailbox. The complainant advised someone wrote on her mailbox with a blue sharpie sometime before Wednesday. Report declined.
  • Assault – MPD – In reference to domestic which occurred at Overlook Tail.
  • Dispute – Bridgeport Lane in reference to a male and female being involved in a physical dispute. Report made, warrant to be taken.
  • Dispute – W. Spring St. (Piedmont Walton): In reference to a subject wanting information after being discharged from the hospital. He received the information and left Piedmont Walton.
  • Suspicious Vehicle – Woodland Rd – In reference to an older vehicle with primer paint driven by a juvenile recklessly in the subdivision. Negative contact.
  • Hit-an-Run – Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. (Tractor Supply): In reference to a Silver Toyota Corolla being struck by a Silver passenger vehicle. Suspect vehicle will have damage on driver’s side of vehicle. Report taken.
  • Other Law – S. Broad Street in reference to three subjects being stuck behind the gate with no way to leave the premises. One subject stated she was gathering Christmas decorations from her grandfather’s, unit. Attempted to make contact with staff who stated they could not locate one subject in their system. Had dispatch advised them to have someone en route to the location to assist. Also had MFD en route to assist as well.
  • Hit and Run – S. Broad St.; Call stated her vehicle was involved in a hit and run at John’s Supermarket on 12/12/2019 between the hours of 1500 to 1700.
  • Damage to property – E. Marable St. Complainant called 911 because someone cut the wire that went to her meter on today’s date. Report taken
