MPD Reports: Break-in and rape reported, knife and rock assault over property dispute; mental health issues

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Dec. 31, 2020 to Jan. 7, 2021. Due to the length, this report has been split into six parts. This is the second part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

Welfare Check – Meadow View Dr. 14-year-old mental patient stating she has no food at her house and that she was alone. House was clean and stocked with food. While speaking to subject’s brother, subject picked up a small metal table and hit brother on the head with it because she did not know who he was and he was in the house, no injury occurred. A parent took one of the siblings to another residence. 

Threats – East Washington St. Situation was mediated and son of complainant agreed to leave after extensive conversation with officers on scene 

Firearms – Reed St. In reference to the complainant advising that they heard several shots in the area. Officers located eight .45 caliber shell casings in the roadway. It appeared the subject was shooting into the wood line. 

Traffic Stop – Sorrells St at N Broad St. Subject was arrested for driving on suspended driver’s license. Citation issued. Subject released. 

Rape – E Church St. In reference to the complainant advising that their home was broken into. A male broke into the side door of the residence and assaulted the complainant. Black male, wearing a jacket and blue mask. Report Taken. TOT CID. 

Threats – W Spring St. Arbys. In reference to the complainant advising that they are closing the business and have received multiple phone calls by a male making threats. Complainant advised it was determined to be prank calls from juveniles and did not wish to have a report made. 

Damage to property – North Broad St., Scoops. Ref to a rocking chair vandalized overnight. 

Suspicious person – Towler St. Subject asleep in a vehicle. He was visiting a neighbor next door. He was released on copy of citations for open container and no license on person. 

Traffic stop – Bryant Rd. and Edwards St. Vehicle stopped for no lights on in the fog. Able to observe suspected methamphetamine in plain view in the vehicle. 30mg Morphine pills also located during vehicle search. Subject arrested and vehicle removed by Taylors. 

Violent domestic dispute – South Madison Ave. Warrants taken on subject after he lunged at his girlfriends’ brother with a knife and a rock during a dispute over property.
