MPD Reports: Charges of kidnapping / aggravated assault; vehicle theft seen on video; man scammed into giving his bank account details

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Nov. 30 – Dec. 7, 2023. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the third part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Follow Up) 923 Amber Trail – In reference to (Stolen Vehicle), the complainant having video of the vehicle being stolen and the name of a possible person of interest.
  • Fraud – A Gliding Ln – In reference to a named subject reporting money sent from his Chime bank account to a CashApp account. Report taken.
  • Suspicious Person – Ashton Pointe Apt – In reference to a named subject being observed walking between cars in the complex. The subject quickly disappeared upon seeing a patrol vehicle. All OK on location.
  • Traffic Stop/Arrest – Perry St. @ Green St.- Attempted to conduct an ARS stop on a vehicle, vehicle failed to stop and the driver fled on foot. He was taken into custody and charged with poss. of methamphetamine, DUI less safe and obstruction.
  • Suspicious Vehicle – N Broad St; Compound Fitness – In reference to a vehicle parked and running in the parking lot of compound fitness. The driver was arrested for DUI – Less Safe, Open Container, and Possession of Marijuana less than one ounce.
  • Suspicious Person – Felker Park – In reference to a male subject on location. He was advised of the park being closed, and was sent on his way. All ok.
  • Suspicious Vehicle – Liberty Bank – In reference to a vehicle observed on location after hours. It was discovered to be a DoorDash driver awaiting an order. All ok.
  • Suspicious Person – Downtown – In reference to a male subject observed walking downtown, wearing a backpack. Contact was made, all ok.
  • Damage to Property – Tanglewood Dr – In reference to damage to occurred on the windows of apartment during the assault call from a previous call. Supplemental report completed for that case number.
  • Dispute – Irving Street in reference to a dispute that happened at I HOP last night. Subject had a question about an argument with her supervisor. Remedies given.
  • Warrant Attempt – Gatewood Way. In reference to a warrant attempt on a female subject- she no longer lives on location.
  • Warrant Attempt – Ash Lane. Female arrested on location and transported to WCSO without incident.
  • Warrant Attempt – E Fambrough St – Female subject arrested on location and transported to Walton County Sheriff’s Office without incident.
  • Shoplifting – W Spring St – In reference to a white male taking merchandise from the store. Report taken.
  • Traffic Stop – Wayne Street/Pinnacle Bank – Male subject was taken into custody for driving on suspended license. He was fingerprinted and released on copy of citation.
  • Disable vehicle – West Spring Street in reference to the complainant needing assistance changing their tire. The complainant ended up calling her insurance company to get assistance.
  • Suspicious person – Pavilion Pkwy in reference to a male subject was at the location bothering the employees and would not leave. He was criminal trespassed from the location for 2 years.
  • Disturbing the Peace – Tanglewood Drive – In reference to anonymous caller advising of loud music in the area. Area had been checked multiple times. All ok.
  • Fight – Masters Dr – In reference to a male and female having a verbal dispute. The female recently filed to have the male evicted. Subjects were advised for remedies. Report taken.
  • Suspicious Person – E Spring St – In reference to a female on location behaving in an odd manner, complainant did not wish to criminally trespass the female. Area was checked with negative contact with the female.
  • Traffic Stop – Hwy 78 at Cedar Ridge, Male subject was stopped for failure to signal. He was operating a motor vehicle with no insurance and no valid driver’s license. The subject’s spouse also arrived on scene and was operating a motor vehicle without a license as well. The male subject was arrested and charged with no license, no insurance, failure to signal, and child restraint. His spouse was charged with no license. Taylor’s Wrecker service impounded the vehicle
  • Scam – Storehouse Ct – In reference to a subject reporting that he was scammed over text message. He advised that a number messaged him in reference to his checking account, and that he provided them with his login information.
  • Loitering – Tractor Supply: Several trucks loitering on location. Subjects left upon officers’ lawful command.
  • Burglary Attempt – Fawnfield Dr – In reference to a group of five subjects kicking the complainants front door, breaking the screen on the screen door and knocking off a wreath that was on the inside of the front door. Area was checked for the subjects, negative contact.
  • Domestic – Roosevelt St – In reference to two subjects being involved in a dispute. During the dispute one subject attempted to flee the residence, and was grabbed and carried back inside by the other, who then proceeded to attempt to rape her on their bed. The subject was charged with Kidnapping, Aggravated Assault, and Battery FV.
  • Firearms – Tall Oaks Ln. – In reference to 6-7 gunshots heard in the area. While checking the area of Tall Oaks, officers heard approximately 10 more gunshots coming from the general direction of Magnolia Terrace. The surrounding area, including Felker Park and Monroe Estates, was checked thoroughly with negative contact.
  • Dispute – Roosevelt St – Two subjects from the previous dispute were in a physical dispute. One had visible injury from the dispute. The other was charged with FV-Battery, FV-Criminal Trespass, Aggravated Assault, and kidnapping.
