MPD Reports: Child abuse investigation after burn on 4-year-old; gun brandished in road rage incident

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Feb. 20 – 27, 2020. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the third part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Traffic Stop_ Hwy78 W Spring. A subject was stopped for a headlight violation, and upon running him showed that he had an active warrant for Failure to Appear. He was transported to Walton County jail free of incident. 
  • Suspicious Person – E. Marable St. in reference to subject wandering around the store. The subject was told to leave.
  • Meet With – Forest St.: In reference to the mother’s boyfriend making threats. She is trying to retrieve items. The complainant wanted Law Enforcement to stand by to keep the peace.
  • Animal Complaint – Pierce St.: In reference to 3 loose K9s on the complainant’s porch. The complainant will transport them to animal control.
  • Dispute – Martin Luther King Blvd in reference to a subject refusing to pay. Subjects agreed to pay for the service they received. Subjects were also criminally trespassed from the property.
  • Follow Up – Ford St. in reference to evidence located. Bolt cutters collected and placed in evidence under the original case number.
  • Mental Person – Glen Iris Drive – in reference to subject wanting to talk to someone. Voluntarily transported to Piedmont Walton for evaluation.
  • Illegal Parking – Baker St. Walton Village Apts.: In reference to a vehicle parked in a handicap parking spot.
  • Area Check – Ridge Rd. in reference to the complainant wanting officer to patrol the area because his apartment was burglarized.
  • Child Abuse – W. Spring St. – In reference a to 4-year-old child with a burn on his leg. The criminal Investigation Division notified and responded.
  • Mental Transport – Green St.: In reference to a subject needing a ride to Ridgeview Hospital for a mental evaluation.
  • Dispute – Tanglewood Dr. Complainant on location advised that his ex would not give his car keys back to him. Made contact with her she advised she did not have them, she stated that the complainant could come in and look for them but he refused and stated he will just have it towed.
  • EMS Assist – Ridgeview. EMS transporting a patient to Piedmont Walton for medical clearance. Turned over to EMS.
  • Suspicious person – S. Broad St. Caller stated that a black male was walking down town and looking in cars. Made contact with the male who advised he was homeless and was not looking in cars.
  • Road rage – N. Broad St. Caller advised that a white male in a truck stopped and knocked on her car window and waved a hand gun at her. No further information of the vehicle, conducted an area check no contact.
  • Civil Dispute – Dollar General E. Spring St. Argument between Dollar General staff and a subject over closing time of the business. The subject was criminally trespassed for one year.
