MPD Reports: Disputes, suicide threats and physical altercations

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period May 7 – 14, 2020. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the first part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Threaten message – Walker Dr. in reference to complainant received a text message from a female saying she was going to steal stuff from his residence. Complainant requested an extra patrol at his residence because people are breaking into his residence while he is gone and smoking meth in his house. 
  • Animal Complaint – Plaza Trace and Highland Village in reference to a large pit-bull loose in the area. Canine was Turned over to AC.
  • Damage Property – Sorrels St. in reference to a broken window on an apartment, report taken
  • Suspicious person – Lacy St. in reference to a subject keeps sleeping and bringing trash into his yard. The subject was criminally trespassed from two apartments on Lacy St.
  • Suspicious Person – N. Broad St. – Franks Shop in reference to a W/M lying in the grass. Contact made with the subject who stated he was just taking a break from walking and refused any attention.
  • Dispute – Hickory in reference to neighbors disputing over an aggressive dog. All ok.
  • Suicidal threat – Ford St. In reference to a subject making suicidal threats. Evaluated by EMS and refused transport. She advised she would seek mental health treatment.
  • Child Custody – King St. Mother and Father on location disputing over custody of their child. They were advised how to handle.
  • Assault – Carver Pl. In reference to reports of an unidentified white female attacking a juvenile female. Video evidence collected report taken.
  • Dispute – Plaza Dr. In reference to a dispute between two parties. A physical altercation between the two parties. One was gone on arrival in 2008 black Charger with the victim’s phone. Warrants for Battery FV, Theft by Taking, Cruelty to Children, and interfering with a 911 call were taken on him
  • Suicide threat – S. Broad St. Caller advised that his room-mate wanted to kill herself. Made contact she stated that she was ok and that it was a miss understanding and she did not want to hurt herself.
  • Traffic Stop – N. Broad / Charlotte Rowell. Reference to a Uhaul Van failing to maintain lane. Further investigation led to the arrest of Harley Chandler and Viphara Kong for possession of methamphetamine and possession of a firearm in the commission of a crime.
  • Loud music – Reedway. Caller has mental health issues and stated that her room-mates were playing loud music, she was afraid to ask them to turn it down. Made contact with room-mates they turned down the music.
  • Unknown law – Davis St. Complainant called 911 during a verbal dispute with a subject. While calling 911 the subject took her phone and broke it. The subject was arrested for obstruction and hindering a 911 call.
  • Shoplifting – Quality Foods. Debbie McGuire caught shoplifting. She was issued a citation and Criminally Trespassed from the location.
  • EMS Assist – S. Broad St; John’s SuperMarket, Reference a female who fell down and busted her nose. Scene was Turned over to EMS.
  • Damage to Property – Great Oaks Dr. reference previous fire that has been reported. All ok
  • Hit & Run – W. Spring St.; Boost Mobile. Witness on scene stated a Hyundai Kona backed into a Chevrolet Malibu and then fled the scene. Report taken.
  • Civil Issue – E. 5th St. Call handled by phone. All ok.
  • Damage to Property – S. Broad St-MPD. Complainant stated neighbor caused minor damage to vehicle. Report taken.
  • Suspicious Person – W. Spring St.; Benchmark Physical Therapy. /Contact made with subject. Just got out of the hospital and headed back to Social Circle.
