MPD Reports: Domestic disputes, shots fired and generator stolen from bed of truck

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Dec. 26, 2019 to Jan. 2, 2020. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the first part.

  • Suspicious vehicle – located during area check of Walton Mills. Vehicle located in vacant cul-de- sac on Old Mill Run. 2005 Lincoln navigator with Dekalb tag and MPD impound markings on the back glass and VIN in windshield covered. The vehicle also had fresh front end damage. Unable to contact the registered owner. Vehicle red-tagged. 
  • Dispute – Perry St. Complainant upset because her daughter’s boyfriend would not leave. Subject gone on arrival, civil remedies advised, all ok.
  • Dispute – E Church St. In reference to a female subject on location with a warrant and was possibly in a dispute. The subject’s sister arrived on location and confirmed the subject with a warrant was present. The subject was arrested and turned over the Walton County Jail.
  • Entering Auto – GW Carver Dr. Complainant reports a generator taken from the bed of his p/u truck.
  • Suspicious Vehicle – S. Madison Ave. and S. Broad. Reference to a green Ford Ecocline with an expired tag. Negative contact.
  • Assault – W Spring St., Piedmont Walton – Subject who is pregnant advised she slipped on water. Refused to cooperate with any questioning.
  • Theft – S. Broad St. Management advised that a black male had come to the store multiple times and stolen items. Requested information on what they can do next time he comes in. Criminal trespass was explained.
  • Traffic Offense – N. Broad and E. Washington – Subject stopped for driving with canceled registration. He was then arrested for driving on his suspended license, fingerprinted and released on copy of citations.
  • Dispute – Claywill Cir. – Father and daughter were in a verbal dispute over father stating daughter took his car keys. The daughter was advised that if she has the car keys to give them back.
  • Firearms – W. Fambrough – Complainant stated he was inside his house when he heard 3 gunshots down the road from his house. He said he looked out the window he could see a gold in color car and someone got in and sped off. He was unsure of what direction the shots were fired. Officers checked the area for shell casings, but none were found.
  • Follow Up – Nunnally Way in reference to a subject on location with a possible stolen gun from an incident that occurred on December 20, 2019, in the City limits. During the follow up strong odor of marijuana was coming from the residence. Walton County advised they were going to get a search warrant. While standing by with the county we were advised that the Captain of CID backed out of the search warrant. The subject advised he did not have the gun and did not know who did.
  • Damage to Property – Bridgeport Pl.: In reference to the mailbox being damage. The complainant declined a report at this time. Tried to make contact next door; in reference to their mailbox being damage. Negative contact at that residence.
  • Counterfeit Money – E. Spring S. – In reference to counterfeit $20 received from a Porterdale Waffle House. Complainant made contact with the store and Porterdale police to make report.
  • Follow Up – W. Fambrough St.: In reference complainant locating gun shell casings in the roadway. Supplement to case
  • Shoplifting – E. Spring St. – In reference to the subject possibly taking items from outside the store. Unknown what was taken. Store advised they would call back to trespass subject.
  • Domestic dispute – N. Broad St.; Complainant advised she was disputing with her boyfriend and he grabbed her and took her money. No visible injuries observed. The exact amount of cash was unknown.
