MPD Reports: Driver and passenger arrested at traffic stop on multiple jurisdiction warrants; scams; harassment reports on ex-boyfriends

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Aug. 30 – Sept. 5, 2024. Due to the length, this report has been split into four parts. This is the final part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

• Traffic Stop/Arrest- Hwy 78/N Broad St- Vehicle stopped for equipment violation(s). The driver, was taken into custody for warrants out of Walton, Gwinnett, and City of Conyers. The passenger was taken into custody for warrants out of Walton. Both parties transported to Walton County Sheriff’s Office. Vehicle towed by Taylors.
• Agency Assist- Windsor Dr – In reference to subject wanting a walkthrough in reference to false neglect claims regarding one of her patients/dependents’ parents making false allegations. Advised it was civil. Report taken
• Fire Assist- Boulevard- In reference to a structure fire. Neighbors were evacuated before fire arrival. Turned over to Monroe and Walton Fire.
• Warrant Attempt- Ridge Road- In reference to locating a subject due to him having an active arrest warrant. Negative contact.
• Alarm – Double Spring; Monroe Area High School- Property checked, all okay on location.
• Lost Item – East Spring @ BP- In reference to complainant losing his wallet in the parking lot. Report taken.
• Suspicious Vehicle – Hwy 78 & Baccus Rd – In reference to a report of a red Ford truck failing to maintain lane. Contact made with the vehicle on East Church St. inbound. Vehicle was observed until it reached a residence. No violations observed.
• Vehicle Accident – MLK Jr. Blvd @ West Spring St. @ Chick-Fil-A – In reference to a single vehicle accident. Driver suspected to be under the influence and was turned over to GSP.
• Theft Report – South Madison Ave- In reference to complainant reporting her phone being stolen, report taken.
• Vehicle Accident – North Broad St @ Hwy 78 – In reference to a two-vehicle accident with no injuries. GEARS report completed.
• Civil Issue – Sorrells St- In reference to the complainant, wanting roommate to leave his residence. She has been living with him for roughly one month. Both parties were advised of the eviction process.
• Burglary – Pavilion Pkwy; In reference to manager reporting money missing from safe. Report taken. CID notified
• Suspicious Vehicle – North Broad Street @ East Spring Street – In reference to a gray Ford truck driving recklessly and waving a gun out of the window. Area checked with negative contact.
• Firearms- Nowell St – In reference to a WCSO stating he heard one small caliber gunshot in the area of Nowell St. and W. Marable St. Area was checked with negative contact.
• Vehicle Accident – East Washington St; Monroe Post Office- Two vehicle private property accident, GEARs report completed.
• Entering Auto – East Spring Street – In reference to a firearm being stolen from the glove box of the vehicle sometime in the past 24 hours. Report taken and firearm was listed on GCIC.
• Agency Assist – 940 Haymon Morris Rd @ Apalachee HS; In reference to assisting Barrow County SO on scene of critical incident.
• Suspicious vehicle – West Spring St- Complainant called due to being followed by a male driver, incident stemmed from a road rage that occurred possibly near the Monroe Library. All okay.
• Hit and Run – East Spring St; In reference to a two vehicle accident with one vehicle that left the scene. Report taken.
• Scam- North Hammond Dr – In reference to the complainant getting a phone call from an unknown female informing her that her daughter was incarcerated and that she needed to send money through a cash app account to have her released. Report taken.
• Disabled Vehicle- Hwy 78 WB @ Spring St Exit; Reference to a truck that ran out of gas. Driver was given a ride to the gas station to purchase fuel for his vehicle. Driver was then able to remove the vehicle from the roadway.
• Fraud- 140 Blaine St @ MPD; In reference to the complainant reporting that a fraudulent check was cashed in his company’s name. Report taken.
• Threats – Walton Rd; In reference to the complainant seeing photos from her daughter’s phone that were taken off of social media discussing a critical incident that occurred in a different jurisdiction.
• Suspicious Person – West Spring St @ Walmart; In reference to a female with a small infant asking for money. Contact was made with subject and her two small children. She was advised of the soliciting laws and sent on her way.
• Suicidal Ideologies – Highland Creek Dr. In reference to subject having suicidal ideologies and needing someone to talk to. A courtesy ride was given to Piedmont-Walton.
• Warrant Service – W Marable St – Subject taken into custody without incident for a probation violation warrant out of Walton Co. S.O.
• Warrant Service -Marable St – Subject was also on location and taken into custody without incident for a family violence warrant out of DeKalb Co. S.O.
• Courtesy Transport – W Spring St: In reference to ER Staff requesting transport for a patient, to his residence. Patient was transported without incident.
• Fire assist -E Church St: In reference to the complainant advising of something igniting in the kitchen. The Fire Department made entry through the front door and observed one of the burner’s was left on.
• Damage to Property – Cook Pl – In reference to a parked vehicle being hit while the owner was at work. Report taken.
• Damage to Property- 140 Blaine Street @ MPD- In reference to complainant reporting that his vehicle was possibly shot one time with a paintball gun on the previous date while driving down E Marable Street. Extra patrols to be conducted.
• Warrant/Arrest – Alcovy Street; GA Probation Office – In reference to a named subject having a Probation Violation warrant. The subject was arrested and turned over to WCSO staff without incident.
• Entering Auto – Blaine Street @ MPD- In reference to the complainant reporting her vehicle being broken into on the previous day. Report taken, sent to CID.
• Dispute Non-Violent – Walker Dr. – In reference to a male and a female verbally disputing while walking home from the store. All OK on location.
• Threats – South Broad Street- Reference to a male subject threatening to slash his ex-girlfriend’s tires. Remedies were advised, report taken.
• Harassment – Pavilion Pkwy; In reference to an employee’s ex-boyfriend repeatedly calling the store looking for her and harassing staff members. Report taken
