MPD Reports: Driver files road rage complaint when vehicle behind honks at her for delay in moving when light turns green

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Sept. 27 – Oct. 3, 2024. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the first part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

• Juvenile problem – In reference to a Dodge with several pickup trucks on location driving in a reckless manner. Subject was identified in a parked vehicle and was warned of reckless driving. No criminal activity was observed upon arrival.
• Other Law – West Marable – In reference to Complainant attempting to remove subject from the residence. Eviction process and civil remedies advised.
• Area check- Douglas St: In reference to the complainant advising she could hear a female screaming. The area was checked, and a party was observed on location. All appeared ok.
• Residential alarm – E Fambrough St: In reference to homeowner accidentally pressing the panic alarm. All appeared ok on location.
• Dispute – Baron Dr: In reference to the complainant, advising she did not feel safe in her home due to her caretaker. Both parties were separated, and remedies advised.
• Suspicious Person – Bryant Rd – In reference to coming home after several days away and thinking someone was inside the home. Home and perimeter were cleared all okay. Negative contact with any subjects in the area.
• Burglary attempt – Tall Oaks E: In reference to the complainant advising someone attempted to kick in her door. Slight damage was observed to the door and deadbolt. Complainant advised she did not get a description of any possible suspects. Remedies advised.
• Vehicle Unlock – GW Carver – Vehicle was unlocked with no damage.
• Assault Law- 140 Blaine St. In reference to Complainant reporting an assault at Douglas St where his juvenile son was assaulted by his ex-wife’s fiancé. The fiancé was apprehended and warrants were taken for Battery FVA, Cruelty to children 2nd degree and obstruction. He was fingerprinted and transported to Walton County Sheriff’s Office without further incident. Report taken, warrants obtained.
• Loud music – E Washington St: In reference to loud music, subject was advised to lower volume.
• 911 Hang up – Kings Ridge Dr: Contact was made with a subject who advised all was ok.
• Suspicious vehicle – Hwy 78E at Unisia Dr. In reference to a Chevy Camaro brake checking the complainant and lost contact on Unisia Dr. Area checked, negative contact made.
• Suspicious Vehicle- Hwy 138- In reference to a vehicle failing to maintain a lane. Vehicle was located and had a headlight out as well. Contact made all okay, subject just tired from work.
• Dispute call -Ash St. In reference to a couple having a verbal dispute over having guests at the house. Remedies advised.
• Vehicle Unlock – Towler Street – Vehicle unlocked with no damage.
• Suspicious person- McDaniel St near Breedlove Dr. In reference to subject found sitting next to the roadway. All appeared ok and subject advised he was headed to 5th St.
• Traffic Stop/Arrest – Michael Circle – In reference to a black Honda Accord stopped for window tint. Subject was arrested for an FTA warrant. He was then fingerprinted and transported to the WCSO Jail.
• Dispute call- Pannell rd. In reference to two subjects getting into a verbal argument and one leaving the property with other’s phone on the top of the vehicle by accident. The phone was returned, and remedies were advised to both parties. Both parties separated for the night.
• Road Rage – Hwy 138 & Michael Etchison Rd: In reference to the complainant advising a vehicle was following her too closely and honking her horn. Contact was made with subject, who advised she honked her horn at Complainant due to her not paying attention at green light. Both parties were sent on their way.
• Dispute – Will Henry’s Tavern. In reference to two subjects getting into an altercation over cigarette smoke and personal space. Parties were separated and a report was taken.
• Suspicious Vehicle- Alcovy St @ Walker Dr – In reference to Subject attempting to pull over to remove an animal from the roadway. Subject misjudged the ditch on the side of the road and got his vehicle stuck. Vehicle eventually removed from the ditch without issue.
• Dispute – Baker St- Dispute between two subjects. Insufficient probable cause to make an arrest, parties were separated. Remedies were advised.
• Vehicle Unlock – North Broad Street- Complainant locked the keys in his Ford Ranger. Vehicle unlocked with no damage.
• Disturbing the Peace – Davis St -Anonymous complainant stated neighbors in the area are smoking and drinking in the area since 0500. Contact made with four individuals standing by a vehicle, they did not appear to be causing any disturbance.
• Dispute – Baron Drive- Reference to a verbal dispute from several parties over paying for bail money. All parties were separated and sent on their way. Nothing criminal occurred.
• Dispute- East Church Street – In reference to the complainant calling about a gas pump taking too much of his money. The Complaint was gone when officers arrived.
• Welfare Check- Nowell St @ Cemetery- In reference to the complainant requesting a welfare check on her niece after she got into an argument with her husband. Complainant called back and advised everything was okay.
• Vehicle Unlock – Ash St- Vehicle unlocked, no damage.
• Vehicle Unlock – N. Madison Ave- Chevy Silverado, vehicle unlocked without damage.
• Dispute – E. Spring St; – Male on location cursing at an employee, male subject was no longer on location. Employee was advised to contact PD back if the male returns to the location to provide him with a criminal trespass warning.
• Business Alarm – S. Hammond Dr; Crawford and Boyle- Cleaning staff on location activating the alarm, all was okay on location.
• EMS Assist- West Spring Street @ Walmart- In reference to subject having a medical emergency due to being diabetic. Subject was turned over to EMS.
