MPD Reports: Drug arrest after hit and run and entering auto thefts

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Jan. 7 – 14, 2021. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the second part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

Theft – Hickory Drive: cash stolen from an unlocked vehicle overnight.

Agency Assist – West Spring Street meet with a Barrow County Deputy in refence to a theft. 

Hit and Run – Martin Luther King Jr Blvd. In reference to 2 vehicles making contact. U-Haul Van left the scene. Was stopped in the county. The driver was arrested for hit and run, poss. of scheduled 2 controlled substance and drug related objects. Report made. 

Theft – East Highland Ave at Windstream: two work trucks entered and equipment stolen during employee’s lunch break. 

EMS Assist – Walton Road. In reference to a mental patient with a signed mental evaluation order. Employee from Behavioral health was on scene. Officer transported subject to Ridgeview, and released to staff without incident. 

Theft – Hickory Drive in reference to complainant stating an subject was taking mail from her mailbox. Report taken. 

Suspicious Person – Hwy 11 Dollar General. Walton County Sheriff’s Office flagged down by subject to report a fight between he and another subject. Report taken. 

Suspicious Person – McDaniel St/Pinecrest Dr -Officer observed two female juveniles walking in the ditch. Their parents were contacted and picked them up. 

Enter Auto – Baron Dr: In reference to missing items from within the complainant’s vehicle. 

Dispute – East Highland Ave In reference to subject was causing a disturbance. Subject was gone on Law Enforcement arrival.
