MPD Reports: Drunk woman locked in men’s restroom; domestic dispute over car keys

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period March 5 – 12, 2020. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the second part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Dispute – W. Spring St. (Piedmont Walton Medical): In reference to subject trying to leave. Staff trying to secure paperwork. 
  • Suspicious Person – S. Broad St. in reference to a woman on location intoxicated and locked in men’s restroom. She was issued a criminal trespass warning and taken home.
  • Unknown – Cook Pl.- Caller advised dispatch that she needed the Police and hung up. Officers patrolled the area and had negative contact.
  • Child Custody – Eagles Ct. – Civil issue over 14-year-old child not wanting to go with father. Remedies given.
  • Shoplifting – WalMart. In reference to a female subject taking items she didn’t pay for. She was arrested and released on a copy.
  • Damage to Property – W. Creek Cir.- In reference to a white Corvette striking a parked vehicle. The driver then ran from the area on foot. Area check was conducted and negative contact with the suspect.
  • Threats – Michael Cir. Caller advised that her grandson was making threats over text to her. She did not think he would do anything and advised he was special needs. She did not request to press charges.
  • Shoplifting – WalMart. In reference to a subject attempting to leave without paying for items. She was arrested and released on copy.
  • Domestic Dispute – Storehouse Ct.- Civil issue over keys to a vehicle. Remedies were given and all ok.
  • Suspicious Vehicle – Ford St; Vehicle ran out of gas. The subject got gas and removed the vehicle from the roadway.
  • Suspicious Vehicle – Michael Etchison. In reference to black Tahoe driving erratically. Contact was made. All ok.
  • Traffic Stop – Pine Park/E. Church St.- Officer observed vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign. The passenger fled the stop on foot and was apprehended. He was identified as James Garrett. A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted and multiple narcotics were located. The driver, Antuwan Lawson was also taken into custody.
  • Suspicious vehicle – Pine Cir. The caller stated a white 4-door jeep was parked on location and a white male was walking around. The vehicle left prior to arrival. Conducted an area check no contact.
  • Suspicious Vehicle – Felker Park. A vehicle parked in Felker Park after hours. Vehicle secure. The driver left note stating vehicle wouldn’t start.
  • EMS Assist – Breedlove Dr. (Ridgeview): In reference to EMS requesting law enforcement assistance with a combative mental patient. All okay.
  • Dispute – Atha St. in reference to a dispute over furniture. Mediated and resolved. All ok.
  • Animal Complaint – Reed Way in reference to the complainant has a pit bull that is hurt and running loose. TOT Animal Control.
  • EMS – W. Highland Ave @ N. Wayne St. in reference to 49-year-old falling in the parking lot and injuring face. Turned over to EMS.
  • Theft – Tanglewood Dr.: In reference to a young juvenile stated that his mother’s boyfriend took her cell phone. Made contact with both residence and both stated all is okay.
  • Dispute – BeautyVille. In reference to a subject on location arguing with customers and waving a gun. All parties gone on arrival. A warrant for Disorderly Conduct taken on the subject.
