MPD Reports: DUI arrests; foot chases and intoxicated persons

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period May 16 – 23, 2019. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the second part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Dispute – Tanglewood Dr. Subject is getting evicted from this address tomorrow and arguing with other tenants. Situation mediated.
  • Follow Up – 4th Street: In reference to a subject being cited for Disorderly Conduct on a city ordinance. He was issued a citation and released.
  • Warrant Service – Tanglewood Dr: Subject arrested on two Walton County Sheriff’s Office warrants.
  • Follow Up – S. Madison Ave.:  Reference to speaking with a subject in connection to a case. He was arrested the last date by Social Circle due to vandalism. He was Mirandized and charged with Disorderly Conduct in reference to providing false information to this case.
  • Harassing Threats -Parkway Place: In reference to complainant receiving a call from an unknown phone number stating that his grandmother’s residence will be shot up.
  • Warrant Service – E. Spring St.:  Subject possibly on location with warrants through Walton County Sheriff’s Office and Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office. The subject was arrested and turned over to Walton County Jail.
  • Traffic stop/vehicle chase – Harris St Magnolia St. Two officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop and a wanted person. The vehicle fled and a chase began. Rubin Dennis was taken into custody after he exited the vehicle on Marable Ct and a short foot pursuit. Rubin had active warrants and narcotics in his vehicle, he was arrested and taken to Walton County jail
  • Warrant Service – Pine Park St.: Barry Irving Jr Arrested for felony probation violation warrants out of Walton County Sheriff’s Office.
  • Theft – Panera Bread in reference to caller stating they tracked their phone to the area.  Upon Officer arrival the caller was gone.  Dispatch made contact with the caller who stated they found their phone.  All ok.
  • Intoxicated person / DUI – E. Spring / Valero.  Caller stated that two males were in the store and appeared to be intoxicated.  They believed they were about to leave in a white work van.  Once Officer was in the area Officer observed it to leave the store.  A traffic stop was conducted due to the driver failing to maintain a lane multiple times and nearly striking a power pole.  The driver was identified as Casey Cox. During the stop, it was determined that he allegedly was DUI.  He was placed in custody and charged with DUI, Failure to maintain the lane, driving on a suspended license and open container.  Cox also had an active warrant out of Monroe Police Department for failure to appear as well as a warrant out of Social Circle Police Department for failure to appear.
  • Warrant service – Conestoga MHP; Matthew Simmons was arrested for the outstanding felony violation of probation warrant after a brief foot chase. Matthew was transported to Piedmont Walton Hospital where he was cleared of injuries before being transported to Walton County Jail.
  • Intoxicated Person – E. Spring St. – Valero Subject on location store requested that he leave. He was sent on his way.
  • Suspicious Person – Felker St. and E. Washington St.: After a short foot chase, Maurice Jackson was arrested for possession of cocaine, obstruction, bicycle requirements and local warrants. Use of force completed reference Taser deployment.
  • Theft – W. Spring St. – In reference to a stolen wallet.
  • Found Property – E. Spring St.: Complainants’ wallet found in WalMart parking lot.
  • Discharging Firearms – Knight St.: Subject said they were playing with a BB gun.  They’ve been advised of city ordinance. All ok.
