MPD Reports: Firearms found, shoplifting and disorderly conduct complaints

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Aug. 1 – 8, 2019. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the third part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Found Property – S. Wayne St. Firearm located. Both firearms were taken for safekeeping, per owner request. 
  • Stolen Car – Towler St. Complainant reporting his 2003 Sonata was Stolen. Vehicle was returned while on scene and complainant did not wish to proceed any further. All ok.
  • Welfare Check – Red Oak Ct in reference to locating juvenile at his mother’s residence. The subject was located at the residence and a juvenile complaint will be filed through Walton County Sheriff’s Office for unruly juvenile, leaving his father’s residence in Loganville without permission.
  • Suspicious Car – Thompson Ridge Dr.- In reference to a black Nissan Altima left in front of the complainant’s residence. The vehicle was red-tagged.
  • Unknown Problem – in the area of E. Washington St. in reference to a subject who had a bleeding hand. He refused EMS and went in his personally owned vehicle to the ER.
  • Dispute – W. Spring St. at Piedmont Walton – in reference to the same subject in above call causing scene within the ER. The situation was mediated and subject calmed down and obtained medical attention.
  • Follow Up – at MPD. Athens Clarke County Police Department located a subject at his residence in Athens. He turned himself over to MPD in reference to the hit and run from the last date. He was cited and released on copy of the citation.
  • Warrant Served – at Gwinnett County Jail. Olivier Niyungeko was arrested for a Violation of Probation through MPD and transported to the Walton County Jail.
  • Shoplifting – W. Spring St.- Walmart. A was observed by Loss Prevention scanning clothing items that were ringing up as arts and crafts. She was taken into custody and issued a citation for shoplifting. She was fingerprinted and released.
  • Traffic Stop – W. Spring St. / Etten Dr. A red Kia was observed not making a complete stop on Plaza Drive. The Officer initiated a traffic stop and the driver did not stop. The vehicle came to a stop at Parkway Pl. The driver, was arrested for driving with no valid license and failure to stop at a stop sign. He was issued citations, fingerprinted at MPD and released on a copy.
  • Shoplifting – W. Spring St. – Walmart. A subject was caught by loss prevention skip scanning. She was taken into custody, fingerprinted, and released a on copy. She was additionally issued a criminal trespass warning.
  • Dispute – Amber Trail in reference to two subjects disputing over property lines. One subject stated that the other subject pointed a handgun at him. Report taken.
  • Burglary Report – Harris St. Complainant stated her brother’s T.V. was taken from their residence between 0730 and 1440 hours this date. No serial number provided. Report taken.
  • Theft Report – W. Spring St. – Roses in reference to complainant reporting his bike stolen from outside of Roses. The theft occurred last date. Report taken.
  • Traffic Stop – Davis St. at Wall St. Apartments. Vehicle stopped for a passenger seatbelt violation. The front seat passenger, would not give her information, then failed to follow verbal commands when trying to walk away from the vehicle. She was detained then released on copy of citation for Disorderly Conduct.
  • Lost Item – S. Broad St.-Monroe Police Dept- Complainant reported he lost his wallet in the restroom of Taco Bell on W. Spring St. on last date.
