MPD Reports: Hit and run, suicidal thoughts, fights over a vehicle and ‘rolling’ domestic dispute

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Jan. 16 – 23, 2020. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the second part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Meet with Officer – Carver Place. Reference to a subject having civil questions. 
  • Follow Up – Hwy 78, Walton Truck Stop. In reference to Hit and Run from 1/14/2020. Supplemental added.
  • Shoplifting – N. Broad St., Golden Pantry. Officers were flagged down by the manager in reference to a female suspected of shoplifting. Officers located subject walking to Deere Acres. She was detained and brought back to the store. After further investigation, it was determined the female did not shoplift. She was released and sent on her way.
  • Stolen vehicle – S. Broad St., Frog’s Pawn. The report was taken. Ref to a stolen U-Haul truck in December 2019 from the state probation office located at Alcovy St.
  • Alarm – E. Spring St., J and J Heating and Air. Windows and doors secure, all ok.
  • Roadway blockage – Charlotte Rowell and Highway 78 East ramp. Ref to Elite Storage truck had a load shift and partially blocking the roadway.
  • Suspicious vehicle – Golfview Commons Subdivision. Area searched for a red 4-wheeler, located on Tigers Way. All ok.
  • Prisoner Transport – Barrow Park Dr., Barrow County Jail. In reference to Transporting a subject to the Walton County jail for confirmed warrant out of the city of Monroe.
  • Domestic Dispute – S. Broad St. In reference to a “rolling” domestic. Contact was made with the parties in the area of the Sheriff’s Office. The dispute occurred at Walmart between two subjects over a civil issue. During the investigation, it was determined that one subject was driving under the influence. He was taken into custody and issued a citation for DUI and transported to Walton County Jail.
  • Dispute – W. Marable Street. In reference to two subjects having a verbal dispute. The situation was mediated. Both parties were advised of remedies. All ok.
  • Welfare Check – S. Madison Ave. In reference to a subject having mental issues and being off of her medication. She refused any medical treatment.
  • Dispute – Atha St. In reference to a neighbor hearing subject on location disputing. The homeowner advised no one on location has been arguing. Everything on location appeared ok.
  • Suspicious Vehicle – Felker Park. A vehicle was parked in the back of the parking lot at the park. The driver said he was waiting for his friend to come and get the car. The driver was advised he could not be in a park after dark and was made to leave.
  • Dispute – W. Spring St., Waffle House. In reference to subjects on location disputing about the service. Subjects were gone on arrival. All ok.
  • Citizen flag down – S. Broad St., MPD. Ref to mother wanting to know where her child was supposed to be for community service. Referred to her probation officer, all ok.
  • Dispute – Hubbard St. in Ref. to two subjects fighting over a vehicle. Situation mediated.
  • Discharging firearms – Unisia Dr., Hatachi. Ref to hearing gun shots in the area. Area searched, the sound of shots was coming from the county. Walton County Sheriff’s Office advised.
  • Discharging firearms – Hanger Clinic. Complainant advised of hearing muffled gunshots; area searched with negative contact.
  • Mental patient – N. Midland Ave. A female subject requested a ride to Piedmont Walton due to suicidal thoughts. All ok, Turned over to Piedmont Walton.
  • Missing person – Heritage Ridge Dr in reference to subject walking away from his residence.
  • Loud music – Walker Dr. Two subjects advised they were trying out their new speakers for their truck. They agreed to turn the music off and go back inside. All ok
  • Suspicious Person – Great Oaks Dr., in reference to a subject being located at the Cocina Fuentes restaurant. The subject was transported to the hospital for a voluntary mental evaluation.
  • Request to meet – W. Spring St., Piedmont Walton. Ref to subject being discharged and refusing to leave.
  • Agency assist – Highway 138 and Anytime Fitness. Agency had a vehicle stopped and requested a second unit, county made arrest, all ok.
