MPD Reports: Hit and runs; washer stolen while owner out to eat and juvenile discipline

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Jan. 30 to Feb. 6, 2020. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the first part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Hit N Run – Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. (Dunkin Donuts): Involving 2 vehicles. One vehicle left the scene and was seen traveling eastbound on 138 to 78 Hwy towards Athens. Report made. 
  • EMS Assist – Hwy 78 (Walton EMC): in reference to a lady slumped over the steering wheel in a blue Honda Odyssey. Left the scene prior to emergency services arrival.
  • Suspicious Person – S. Broad in reference to a subject driving on a suspended license. Arrest made.
  • Damage to Property – Michael Etchison Rd: In reference to a vehicle striking a mailbox to avoid a deer. Negative contact from Hwy 138 to Ammons Bridge Road.
  • Damage to Property – McDaniel St.: In reference to a blue mini-van struck a mailbox at this location.
  • Agency Assist – in reference to DFCS information. Met with the complainant in reference to concern about the welfare of a co-workers’ children. Complainant was provided the number to DFCS and informed on how to make an anonymous complaint.
  • Identity Theft – Victory Dr. in reference to the complainant receiving scam phone calls asking for her personal information. Complainant did not give the caller any information.
  • Theft – Baron Dr. Complainant claimed her TV was stolen out of her closet this week. Complainant believes the suspect could be one of her daughter’s friends when she had a party at her house. Tammy decided not to file a report due they did not have the serial number.
  • Theft – Baron Dr. Complainant claimed when he was cleaning his apartment yesterday, he left the doors open to get something to eat. When he came back his washer was stolen by suspect. Complainant did not wish to file a report or press charges because he is afraid of the subject.
  • Hit and Run – Church St. In reference to a subject being arrested for leaving the scene of an accident and driving under the influence. Report made.
  • Dispute – E. Spring St. (AutoZone): In reference to repairs done to the vehicle by employee. The Civil Process was explained to complainant. All okay.
  • Wanted Person – Alcovy St.: In reference to a subject having a warrant for Violation of Probation out of Walton County Sheriff’s Office. Transported to the Walton County Jail. Report made.
  • Suspicious Person – Hwy 78 (Walton Truck Stop) In reference to a subject being arrested for driving without a license and for not wearing a helmet. Report made
  • Shoplifting – Madison Ave. In reference to three women shoplifting an iPad. Report taken.
  • Dispute – E. Washington St. Complainant having a verbal dispute with her 16-year-old who was upset because she wanted her cell phone. Report taken.
  • Domestic Dispute – Third St. In reference to a female subject calling 911 for an argument with her boyfriend. Situation mediated. The subject had a confirmed warrant out of Clayton County, but they declined to extradite.
  • Disturbing the peace – Ridge Rd. Caller stated that he could hear the washer from the apartment under him. Upon arrival, the washer could be heard from outside, made contact with the owner and he advised he will stop for the night.
  • Suspicious vehicle – MLK Jr. Blvd., Longhorn. A 2017 Black Kawaski was abandoned inside the dumpster port. Contact was made with the manager and she was advised on how to remove the motorcycle due to it being found on private property and not reported stolen. Negative contact with the registered owner out of Roswell GA. Report taken. Contact was made with the owner and she advised a bartender from Longhorns told her she can park it there for the night. Longhorns called Taylor’s and they moved the bike to a parking space for the subject to come to pick her bike up this evening.
  • Follow up – Alcovy St., Juvenile Probation Office. Ref to juvenile who was reported missing showed up to meet with his Probation Officer. Juvenile Turned over to his mother by DJJ, removed from GCIC. Supplemental added to original report.
