MPD Reports: Homeless man given meal and room for the night, motorcycle and trailer stolen

The City of Monroe reported the following incidents for the period July 26 – Aug. 1, 2019. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the final part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Dispute – Gliding Lane in reference to a subject disputing with her nephew. Situation mediated between parties. 
  • Flag Down – E. Church St. – Chevron in reference to complainant observing staff at Chestnut Cupboard selling cigarettes to juveniles.
  • Dispute – W. Spring – Capt. D’s. In reference to a female customer on location wanting free food. The manager stated the subject advised her order had been messed up and was wanting it replaced. The female subject did not have a receipt for the items she claimed were messed up. The subject was gone on arrival. Manager was advised to call Officer back if the female returns.
  • Suspicious Person – S. Broad Street, behind the MPD – In reference to subject sitting on the bench behind the police department. He is homeless. He was provided with a meal and given a room at Monroe Motor Inn by Fish.
  • Theft – Maple St. – Complainant reported subject took his house keys and wallets.
  • Suicide Threats – Breedlove Dr. at Ridgeview. – 28-year-old male. Ridgeview requesting transport to Piedmont Walton. Subject was transported to Piedmont Walton per his request.
  • Theft Report – N. Broad St.- Golden Pantry. In reference to the manager reporting Lottery ticket books missing from the ticket machine. Report taken.
  • Threats – W. Spring St. Walmart – In reference to a black male harassing employee. The individual was gone on arrival.
  • Theft – Hill St.: In reference to complainant’s bike being taken from his carport. Report taken.
  • Stolen – S. Madison Ave.: Complainant said his father’s, who passed away June 28, had a motorcycle that was on a trailer in the backyard with a lock on it. Complainant said the last time he saw the trailer and motorcycle was July 22 and the neighbor said the last time he saw it was July 25/26 at approximately 1700 hours. Placed the motorcycle (Tag # 3871MW) on GCIC. Briefed Criminal Investigation Division. No information on the trailer. NO ONE is supposed to be on location at this residence. Report taken.
  • Dispute – S. Broad St. (Southside Park) Complainant advised her grandson was making threats towards her cat that is stuck in a tree. Mrs. Hale advised that she was not worried about the threats due to them coming from a juvenile. Mrs. Hale did advise her son and his family that they were no longer welcome at her residence.
  • Assault – W. Spring St. (Piedmont Walton): In reference to patient in a room being assaulted on Pine Park St. Report taken.
  • Theft – Post Office: Complainant advised while she was packing up a box to ship and advised someone walked off with her white Goody’s bag that had 2 white t-shirts and a pair of gray pants. Incident occurred inside the Post Office service area.
  • Meet With – Matthews Park. Complainant advised his mother was harassing him by phone. Appears they are communicating back and forth about issues with his father.
  • Dispute – W. Spring St. (Wal-Mart): at the Auto center. In reference to complainants’ vehicle is not cranking. The manager of the department. refunded her monies back. We were able to get her vehicle cranked. All okay.
  • Patrol Request – in area of Magnolia Street and Davis Street in reference to cars speeding in the area.
  • Dispute – E. Spring St; complainant reported her 17-year-old Daughter was trying to leave the residence without permission. Daughter did not leave the residence and complainant denied a report or a juvenile complaint.
  • Discharging Firearms – S. Broad St./Victory Dr. Contact was made with subjects in the area who advised they were shooting off fireworks. All okay.
  • Damage to Property – Barron Drive in reference to damaged back door. Met with complainant in reference to someone possibly shooting her back door with a pellet gun. Complainant declined a report but did request extra patrols due to being home alone.
  • Meet With – GW Homes. Subject on location stating that he had taken the homeowners hostage and was not allowing them to leave. Per the family on location all was okay and that he has not been taking his meds. Subject was given a ride to Green St. where he was allowed to stay the night with a friend.
  • Dispute – Breedlove Dr. Complainant called in reference to staff on location not allowing her to take her daughter home due to not wanting her to be seen by the medical staff. During the course of the investigation it was found a mental evaluation order had not been signed and they were allowed to leave.
