MPD Reports: Homeowner charged after large house party, several mental health issues

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period April 16 – 23, 2020. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the third part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Dispute – in area of E. Spring. 3rd party caller reporting yelling in the area. Spoke with homeowners in area who advised all ok. 
  • Dispute – Towler St. In reference to complainant stating that his girlfriend was following him in her car while he was on foot. Both parties separated for the evening.
  • Mental patient – Hardees; Subject reported he was being followed by numerous subjects. The subject was off his mental health medication and requested transport to Piedmont Walton by EMS.
  • Entering auto – Walton Rd. Caller advised that her ex came to her house and went into her unlocked car. He then took her debit card and ID. She did not want to press charges and wanted Officers to tell him to leave her alone. She was advised of a Temporary Protection Order.
  • Illegal Parking – Custom Way. In reference to a large house party and cars blocking the roadway. Upon officers’ arrival, the crowd dispersed and the homeowner was cited for disorderly conduct.
  • Disturbing the peace – Nowell St. Caller advised males were outside starting a fire and being loud. Contact was made with males who were cooking they were asked to keep it down.
  • Suspicious Person – Green St. In reference to a male with the street name “Speedy” breaking into his former residence and having a dispute with the homeowner. He struck homeowner with a rock causing a laceration to the homeowner. He was gone on arrival. The area was searched with negative contact. Report taken, but no warrants due to lack of information on the suspect.
  • 911 hang up – Cook St; Subjects in the area stated they did not call 911. Several subjects were seen walking in the parking lot when officers arrived and an abandoned Glock handgun was recovered under a vehicle.
  • Assault Report – in reference to an assault that took place while traveling on HWY 78 around Hwy 11 yesterday. Report taken
  • Dispute – S. Broad St in reference to a complainant advised there was a dispute between two subjects located at S. Madison Ave. last night. Spoke with the subjects and they advised it was a verbal argument.
  • Domestic Dispute – Victory Dr. – Complainant called in reference to his live-in girlfriend disputing. She assaulted the complainant with a large kitchen knife. She was arrested for Agg. Assault (Family Violence)
  • Shoplifting – W. Spring St. in reference to a male and female in loss prevention office. Subject released on copy of citation for Shoplifting.
  • Dog Bite – S. Broad St. In reference to complainant riding a bike and getting bitten by a dog. Turned over to Animal Control
  • Fire Assist – Ash St. In reference to a residential fire. Possible arson. Turned over to the Fire Department.
  • Dispute – Piedmont Walton. ICU staff requested PD units for a patient with a mental evaluation order who was combative. Staff was able to sedate him.
  • Dispute – Pine Park St. Subject having a mental episode after taking an unknown substance. Subject refused EMS and was taken by family members to the hospital.
  • Suspicious person – W. Spring St., Liberty First Bank. Subject sleeping on the front porch, sent on his way.
  • Agency assist – Richards Parsons Dr., Monroe Airport. FAA called in overdue plane and requested an area check for the tail number. Plane had arrived safely and forgot to notify FAA.
