The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Sept. 28 to Oct. 4, 2018. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the first part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.
- Suspicious Vehicle, East Washington St., reference to a vehicle blocking the driveway. The tenant of the apartment advised she did not call. Everything on location ok.
- Damage to Property, West Vine St., reference to complainant stating someone possibly broke a window to his girlfriend’s residence. Contact was made with the girlfriend’s father, who leases the residence, and he stated he did not wish a report at this time and will contact the landlord.
- Welfare Check, West Spring St. in the area of Georgia Walton Academy in reference to a female sitting on a drainage pipe covering her face. Officers had negative contact with anyone in distress. Possibly a construction worker taking a break.
- Domestic Dispute, Walker Dr., reference to caller stating a male and female on Walker Drive were disputing. The male subject threw a brick at the female in a maroon van whom recklessly sped off down Walker Drive. Officers located the female near Gold-N-Pawn. She advised she was arguing with her boyfriend about money. She denied he ever threw a brick at her vehicle. Boyfriend was gone when police arrived in the area of Walker Drive and could not be located. Report taken.
- Theft Report, West Spring St., Monroe Library, reference to complainant reporting her Samsung Galaxy S8 stolen from the library restroom. The video footage of people exiting the restroom was reviewed with negative findings. Report taken.
- Juvenile Complaint, Tall Oaks East, reference to daughter skipping school and disputing with her mother. The situation was mediated. Report taken.
- Welfare Check, Glen Iris Dr., reference to checking on man due to him complaining
- Traffic Stop, South Broad St./ McDaniel St., reference to Torrance Wilcher pulled over for tag violation. Arrested for warrant out of Athens-Clarke County. Turned over to Athens-Clarke County at Striplings General Store.
- Dispute, North Broad St., J&B Food Mart, reference to customer disputing with staff over the temperature of the products. customer was served with a criminal trespass warning.
- Juvenile Complaint, Nowell St., reference to complainant stating juveniles in the neighborhood are causing problems with her and the neighbor’s kids. The situation was mediated, everything on location ok.
- Domestic Dispute, Ash St., reference to two subjects in a dispute. Situation mediated, parties separated. Report taken.
- Agency Assist, Shamrock Dr., reference to a complaint about drug use inside the home. Met with DFCS and stood by while all in the home were drug screened and a safety plan put in place by DFCS. Children are to remain in the home at this time.
- Juvenile complaint, Nowel St., met with complainant in reference to unruly juveniles in the street. Parties were advised to stay away from the residence.
- Dispute, Davis St., reference to brother and sister pushing each other. Parents were on scene and would not listen to officers trying to explain state law. They walked away from officers.
- Traffic Stop, Hwy 78 at Unisia. White passenger car called in for driving recklessly in the area. Contact was made, and Mr. Cory Gibson was arrested for driving under the influence.
- Traffic Stop, Alcovy St./Boulevard, reference to David Barton pulled over for expired registration. Arrested for driving on a suspended license. Fingerprinted and released.
- Dispute, Lander St., reference to complainant believing named subject took her purse. She did not want a report at this time.
- Dispute, Douglas St., reference to complainant stating named subject threw a drink on him. Subject denied doing it and conflicting stories between the two. Report taken to document the incident.
- Dispute, Landers St., reference to complainant wanting to keep named subject away from house. Subject not on scene. Report taken.
- Suspicious Person in area of Holly Hill. Saw a white male with red hat in the area and wanted contact made. Gone on Arrival
- Loud Music, East Spring St.- Monroe Motor Inn. Advised to keep the noise down. All ok.
- Fraud, South Madison Ave at the Walton County Jail – complainant stated she gave Slovakia George her credit card to pull out bond money. Slovakia George instead pulled out the money for her own personal use. Slovakia George was located and arrested on a warrant out of Social Circle with warrants to be taken for fraud.
- Traffic Stop, Unisia Drive at Walton Truck Stop – Marquez Johnson stopped for traffic violation by officer. The odor of alcohol and marijuana were observed upon approaching the vehicle. Mr. Johnson was advised multiple times to exit his he vehicle and refused. He then drove off at high rate of speed. Officer’s gave pursuit and Mr. Johnson ran the through the stop sign at Unisia and Highway 83 crashing through the fence and into the field of the Little’s Farm.
- Entering Auto, Breedlove Dr./Ridgeview, reference to a gold Lexus. complainant discovered damage to her vehicle this morning around 0750 hours. The damage indicated that someone attempted to make entry, but no entry was made and nothing missing from the vehicle. Prints were lifted off the window and submitted into evidence.
- Suspicious Person on Highway 78 near East Spring St., reference to a male on a skateboard. Subject was given a escort to Oconee County.
- Civil Issue, Michael Circle, reference to complainant wanting an Officer present as his ex-girlfriend removed her items from the residence. All ok.
- Domestic Dispute, East Church St., Marable Manor, reference to Marvin Wannamaker disputing with other residents. Wannamaker was arrested for simple battery and simple assault.
