MPD Reports: Man arrested charged for threatening with a knife; juveniles advised not to dumpster dive

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period March 5 – 12, 2020. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the third part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Traffic Offense – S. Madison and Baker St. Traffic stop for no headlamp. The driver had a suspended license. He was arrested, transported to MPD for processing, and released on copy of the citation. 
  • Traffic Stop – Pine Park at Davis St. While attempting to stop a vehicle with the wrong tag, the vehicle then attempted to flee. The driver drove into a yard and attempted to run on foot but was taken into custody. David Harris had an active warrant out of Walton County Sheriff’s Office. Additional MPD charges for the chase and other traffic offenses.
  • Agency Assist – W. Spring St. (Haven Inn) Rm 210: in reference to a subject threatening someone with a knife on 03/07/2020 in front of the Chevron on S. Broad St. The subject was transported to St Mary’s Hospital for treatment from an injury he received last night in the County. He has an active warrant for Aggravated Assault.
  • Dispute Non-violent – Booth Dr.: In reference to two subjects having a verbal argument. Situation mediated. Parties separated.
  • Juvenile Complaint – Alcovy St.: In reference to 2 white male juveniles dumpster diving. Made contact at Alcovy St. Both males were advised to stay out of the dumpster
  • Harassment – Ash Lane in reference to a subject wanting to report facebook harassment. No harassment occurred, Officer helped subject block party and informed him to not contact her as well.
  • Trespassing – Davis St. in reference to a request for extra patrol at residence due to previous day worker squatting in the garage.
  • Abandoned Vehicle – Hwy 78 at Unisia. GCIC indicated Vehicle was stolen out of Athens- Clarke County. The vehicle was confirmed and towed from the scene by Taylor’s.
  • Theft – W. Spring St. – McDonald’s in reference to the victim leaving his wallet on location on Friday and a female subject observed on camera taking it out of his seat. She was arrested for theft of lost/mislaid property and transported to jail.
  • Follow Up – S Broad St. In reference to a subject who advised she was involved in a dispute on 7 March 2020. Officers responded but she was gone on arrival. She wanted to explain what happened to her during the altercation. She was advised of the Temporary Protection Order process. A supplemental has been added to the original case.
