MPD Reports: Man has heart attack in local restaurant drive-thru and doesn’t survive

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Aug. 1 – 8, 2019. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the final part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Follow Up – in reference to theft out of Social Circle. The tag of a suspect vehicle confirmed. He advised it would be forwarded to their CID. All okay. 
  • Person Down – Officer was flagged down in reference to an unresponsive male at Burger King. The subject was the passenger in a vehicle that was in the drive thru. It was apparent subject was having a medical emergency and needed medical attention as quickly as possible. Due to the time it would had taken for EMS to arrive on the scene, subject was escorted to Piedmont Walton for emergency medical attention. It was determined that the subject had a heart attack and was pronounced dead approximately forty minutes after arriving at the hospital. Report taken.
  • Subject with a Firearm – Green St. Complainant advised he and his father got into an argument. He said his father pulled out a gun and told him to leave his house. Report taken
  • Shoplifting – W. Spring St. Items were recovered before the subject finished checking out. Walmart requested she verbally issued a criminal trespass.
  • Dispute – Gliding Lane. Complainant advised her boyfriend; Darius Blackwell became upset with her when she refused to give him a ride to work. She advised that he struck her in the face and left on foot. A large knot was observed on the right side of her face. Warrant to be taken on Blackwell.
  • Meet with Officer – W. Spring St. – Walmart in reference to two people being on location for over a month, sleeping in their vehicle. Both subjects were issued Criminal Trespass Warnings and left the premises without incident.
  • Traffic Stop – Breedlove Dr. Reference subject with murder warrant out of Atlanta. The subject was taken into custody without incident.
  • Dispute – Towler St. in reference to two subjects verbally disputing over cheating and one subject threatening to burn items in the residence. Parties were separated, report taken.
  • Assault – MLK Jr BLVD – Tractor Supply Company. An associate of Tractor Supply was grabbed by an older w/m at the cash register. Male was gone on arrival. Report Taken.
  • Harassment – MPD in reference to complainant stating subject has been visiting her residence knocking on her door trying to get money she owes to him. The complainant was advised of remedies. Contact was made with the subject at his residence and he was warned not to return to complainant’s residence.
  • Agency Assist – N. Broad St. at Highland Ave. in reference to Walton County Sheriff’s Office on a traffic stop of a suspect vehicle from a possible hit and run that had just occurred. There were conflicting stories between drivers and unable to determine if an actual accident occurred. Report taken.
  • Traffic Stop / Chase -West Fambrough St / Bridgeport. James Johnson stopped for failure to maintain lane. Officer requested back up due to the subject having multiple warrants. Before backup could arrive, the subject fled on foot. Warrants to be taken.
  • Damage to Property – Heritage Ridge Dr. Dispute between father and son where son damaged property. Juvenile complaint filed.
  • Dispute – Rose Ison Ter. in reference to children picking on a family. Options advised. All ok.
  • Dispute – Tanglewood Dr. – Two subjects were involved in a dispute over children in the residence. Both parties denied wanting a report and separated for the night.
  • Suspicious Person -W. Spring St. – In reference to a woman walking in the roadway. She was given a ride back to Lacy St.
  • Fire Assist – Bridgeport Place – In reference to a vehicle fire inside the garage of a residence. Turned over to Monroe Fire Department.
