MPD Reports: Man shoots foot while cooking hot dogs; wrong food order prompts police report

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period May 7 – 14, 2020. Due to the length, this report was split into five parts. This is the third part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Shoplifting – W. Spring St; Quality Foods. In reference to an unknown white male taking baby wipes and formula from the store and walking past the point of sale. Report taken. 
  • SuspiciousVehicle – Davis St. – in reference to subjects riding dirt-bikes and ATV’s on the street and sidewalk. Subjects were advised to stay off of both.
  • Dispute – Applebee’s – In reference to a subject unhappy with her order amount. The subject reportedly wrote the wrong tip amount down and was mad when she was charged for it. The manager stated she made threats to beat her ass if they didn’t fix the amount. The complainant wanted to criminally trespass the subject but was advised the proper steps that needed to be taken.
  • Domestic Dispute – New Lacy St; During a verbal dispute, the subject shoved victim’s head while she was sitting down. He was charged with simple battery family violence and was transported to the Walton County Jail without incident. Warrant taken.
  • Gun Shot Wound – Ash Lane – Subject accidentally shot his right foot while grilling hot dogs. The subject was transported to Piedmont Walton with non-life-threatening injuries.
  • Dispute – W. Spring St.- McDonald’s. The complainant saw it fit to contact the police in reference to not receiving his complete order. He advised that he received the wrong beverage and he was missing food items and requested a report be made.
  • Entering Auto In Progress – N. Midland Ave. – In reference to a black male wearing a black hoodie was seen by the homeowner inside of their vehicle. The subject took off around the back of the house when confronted. Area checked with negative contact.
  • EMS Assist – Green St. Female wanted a ride to a mental facility. Turned over to EMS.
  • Traffic Offense – W. Spring St. and Breedlove Dr. Female subject arrested for Walton County Sheriff’s Office warrant, providing a false name and DOB, seat belt, and tail light violations.
  • Dispute – Lacy St. Dispute between the subject and her parents. The subject was gone on arrival. Remedies advised. All ok.
  • Dispute – Lacy St. Subject on scene disputing with parents. The subject appeared to be under mental distress. Turned over to EMS; medical transport for a mental evaluation.
  • Dispute – W. Spring St., Murphy USA. Male and female arguing with a clerk when she enforced cigarette purchasing limits. Individuals gone when officers arrived.
  • Suspicious person – W. Spring St., Walmart. Ref to the Hispanic subjects panhandling. Individuals sent on their way.
  • Dispute – Walker Dr. Two parties were disputing. Parties separated. Report taken.
  • Dispute – W. Spring St; Walmart. A child custody dispute between two parties. Both parties were advised of the civil process and remedies on child exchange locations. Report taken.
  • Dispute – Sorrells St – Unable to make contact with the complainant or any possible party involved. All appeared OK in the area.
  • Dispute – Towler St. In reference to the subject and her roommate disputing over living arrangements. Report taken.
  • Welfare Check – RidgeView- In reference to the complainant, reported that her son was assaulted. Son was checked and appeared ok.
  • Dispute – Bridgeport Ln – In reference to complainant stating his wife wouldn’t allow him to use her key to get into their house. The wife was contacted via. phone. The wife advised that she was at her brother’s house and would come let complainant into their house.
