MPD Reports: Mental health issues, DUI reports and domestic disputes

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Feb 12 – 19, 2026. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the second part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

• Accident – W Spring St and Broad St – Two vehicle accident with no injuries or damage to either vehicle. Parties denied a formal accident report. Incident report to be completed.
• Domestic – Lacy Street – In reference to a domestic dispute between subject and a named subject. The named subject was gone upon arrival. Warrant for the named subject for FVA charges.
• Juvenile Problem – John’s Supermarket – In reference to an anonymous complainant stating infants were left in a vehicle in the parking lot while the adult went inside. Negative contact after patrolling the parking lot.
• Civil Issue – W Spring St; Murphy – In reference to the complainant stating that her vehicle was stolen. The vehicle was located in an adjacent parking lot.
• Suspicious Person – Atha St – Subject on location laying down in an abandoned house. The property manager advised he did not want him trespassed at this time. He was given a room for the night at the Walton Inn.
• Vehicle Accident – N. Broad St – In reference to a two vehicle accident with no injuries.
• Vehicle Accident – West Spring Street, Hwy 78 on ramp- Two vehicle accident, minor damage, no injuries, report taken in GEARS.
• Suspicious Vehicle – Hwy 78, Walton Truck Stop- In reference to the complainant reporting the vehicle in front of his was failing to maintain lane. Traffic violations were witnessed by MPD and a traffic stop was conducted. No signs of impairment, verbal warnings given.
• Theft Report – Lopez Ln – In reference to the complainant stating her ex-boyfriend had fraudulently using $260 from her bank account. Report taken, and remedies advised.
• Suspicious person – S Madison Ave at David St. In reference to observing a male matching the description of a suspect involved in a domestic earlier this date. The male was identified and sent on his way after he was confirmed to not be the suspect.
• Drunk Driver – Harris St – In reference to the complainant advising his mother left the residence and was possibly under the influence of alcohol. Complainant could not advise a direction of travel but did advise she was driving an Impala. The area was checked and negative contact was made.
• Theft Report – Wheel House Lane – In reference to the complainant stating to dispatch that an iPad and a handgun were stolen from his vehicle. Upon arrival, the complainant stated that his car was repossessed in another jurisdiction with said belongings inside. Complainant was advised to make a report through that jurisdiction, since no crime occurred in the City of Monroe.
• Suspicious person – E Spring St at Glen Iris Dr.- In reference to subject riding a bicycle down the wrong side of the road. A consent to search was given and no contraband was located on his person. Subject was released with a warning.
• Mechanical Breakdown – Ammons Bridge / Alcovy St; In reference to a pickup truck blocking the roadway due to a flat tire. Complainant was able to replace the tire and clear the roadway. All OK.
• Domestic Dispute – Harris St – In reference to the complainant advising that her son and husband assaulted her and were refusing to give her back her purse and keys. She was not in a correct state of mind. The husband and son advised that she grabbed a knife from the kitchen and threatened to kill them. She advised that she only grabbed the knife in self-defense claiming that her husband threatened to hit her with a cane. Advantage was called and she was placed on an involuntary 1013 order and transported to Advantage in Athens, Ga.
• Vehicle Unlock – Wellington Drive- Vehicle unlocked with no damage.
• Threats – Carver Place – In reference to subject stating her ex-boyfriend called her and advised he was on the way from Augusta to kill her and her family. Subject was advised of remedies and also advised of the Temporary Protection Order process. Increase patrols conducted.
• Traffic Stop/DUI arrest – W Spring St at W Highland Ave. – In reference to a traffic stop initiated on a named subject for failure to maintain lane. Upon investigation, it was determined that he was driving impaired. He was placed under arrest for DUI and consented to a blood draw. He was taken to Walton County Jail without incident.
• Suspicious Vehicle – Paradise Shops – In reference to a vehicle parked in a suspicious manner. Contact made with the occupant, who advised he was homeless and was sleeping there for the evening.
• Unknown Law – N Broad Street, Golden Pantry- In reference to subject believing that her passenger in her vehicle was having a medical emergency. It was discovered that subject did not have a passenger in her vehicle. Subject was advised to leave the gas station and drive home.
• Found Property – E Church St; Chevron – In reference to a brown shoulder bag located inside the store by the clerk, belonging to an unknown individual, containing misc. personal items but no wallet or ID. The bag was placed into evidence at Monroe PD for safekeeping and the clerk was advised to notify the owner of this should they return to claim the bag.
• Vehicle Unlock – King St – In reference to a vehicle unlock. The vehicle was unlocked with no damage.
