MPD Reports: Mental health patient jumps out of parked ambulance and flees; incidents of hit and run, damage to property, shots fired

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Aug. 15 – 22, 2024. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the second part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

• Hit and Run – S Broad St; Rinse Bath and Body – Semi-truck vs. parked car. Report taken.
• Hit and Run -South Broad St/Atha St; Chevron – In reference to a hit and run that occurred in the parking lot. Camera footage was reviewed and a report was taken. Forwarded to MPD Traffic.
• Mental Patient – Breedlove Dr- Reference to a 1013 patient brought in by EMS. The patient jumped off the ambulance and ran from the facility. Ridgeview staff got the patient back into their custody upon police arrival. No further assistance was requested.
• Dispute – N Lumpkin St; High Voltage – In reference to a Sherwin Williams truck blocking traffic. Staff at Sherwin Williams was asked to use the loading/unloading zone on Lumpkin St.
• Dispute – W. Spring St; Piedmont Walton- In reference to a dispute between two subjects. A female subject had an outstanding warrant for FTA out of Lawrenceville. She was arrested and transported to Walton County Sheriff’s Office without issue.
• Damage to Property – Lacy St: complainant stating that damage had occurred to her vehicle overnight. Report taken.
• Damage to Property – Applewood Dr – Complainant called in reference to a large piece of metal falling off of a white pickup truck and striking their vehicle on Hwy 11 near Waffle House. Report taken.
• Found Property – Hitachi – subject called in reference to locating suspected crack cocaine on the property. The substance was secured in evidence. Report taken.
• Fraud Report – Blaine St -Complainant called in reference to reporting a subject defrauding her, after she paid money for bail.
• Suspicious person – Compound fitness. In reference to subject on location waiting for several minutes who appeared to be on drugs. Subject stated he was waiting for his brother to bring his gym membership paperwork and had a stroke last month and he is weak and exhausted. Subject’s wife arrived to pick him up and took him home. No action taken.
• Wanted person – Michael Cir: In reference to a subject having active warrants for terroristic threats and acts. The subject was not on location. All units went back into service.
• Animal problem – W Marable St- In reference to an unruly dog chasing the complaint, turned over to Animal control.
• Traffic stop/arrest – Charlotte Rowell Blvd & Pavilion Pkwy: Traffic stop conducted on a Gray in color Chrysler 300 for expired tag. The driver was identified as the subject from the prior report who had active warrants for terroristic threats and acts. The subject was taken into custody and transported to the Walton County Jail without incident.
• Shots Fired – South Broad St – multiple people in the area stated that they heard shotgun blasts near the Chevron. Unit checked the area, no contact.
• Traffic Stop/Arrest – Hwy 138/Chick Fil A – Vehicle stopped for no tag lights. Driver and Passenger were identified as the suspects in the County of a theft that just occurred. Subjects were arrested and turned over to WCSO.
• Shots Fired – South Broad St – multiple people in the area stated that they heard shotgun blasts near the Chevron. Unit checked the area, no contact.
• Shots fired call – W Marable St. In reference to an unknown gunman shooting several times at subject. On call CID notified and turned over to them. Report taken.
• Traffic Stop/DUI Arrest -E Church/Ash St – Male subject stopped for speeding on Church St. Subject was arrested for DUI Less Safe Drugs. The vehicle turned over to a second licensed driver and he was taken to Walton Co Jail on two citations.
• Dispute -Pavilion Pkwy; Publix -Subject on location causing a disturbance. She was issued a criminal trespass warning and sent on her way.
• Other Law – E Fambrough St – In reference to a dispute between two parties. One was arrested for disorderly conduct and released on a citation.
• Animal Complainant – Pav Pkwy- Call in reference to a dog inside of a vehicle in the parking lot of Five Below. Area was checked, however the vehicle was gone prior to officer’s arrival.
• Damage to Property – Felker Street – While conducting area checks, the officer observed a brick mailbox that was destroyed. The neighbor outside advised a vehicle just struck it a few minutes prior to the officer’s arrival. The vehicle later returned to the scene. Report taken
