MPD Reports: Officers chase down runners from traffic stop, hospital ER

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Dec. 25 – 31, 2020. Due to the length, this report has been split into four parts. This is the final part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

Warrant attempt – Magnolia Terr. The subject was arrested for outstanding Walton County Sheriff’s Office warrant and cited for poss of marijuana. 

Mental patient – West Spring St., Piedmont Walton. Subject brought in in handcuffs and with signed mental evaluation from Dr. from Social Circle Police Department. He ran from the ER. Subject was recovered and returned to his room. 

Suicide Attempt – Ford St. In reference to a 38-year-old female who took a handful of Ambien. Possibly 15-20 pills. Subject was turned over to EMS and taken to Piedmont Walton. 

Damage to Property – E Spring St. Dairy Queen. In reference to the complainant’s vehicle being hit while parked. Officer did not observe any damages to the vehicle. Report made. 

Wanted Person – E Spring St. Popeyes. Officer observed the subject leave Monroe motor Inn and go to Popeyes. He was taken into custody on warrants taken out by CID in reference to case. 

Armed Robbery – South Broad Street. Two complainants stated they were robbed of $430 at Monroe Motor Inn Room 123 at approximately 1745 hours on 12/29/2020. The complainant has dementia, and was not able to give clear details of the incident. 

Damage To Property – Atha Street: In reference to damage to the vehicle by hitting a tree to avoid hitting a deer. Report made. 

Entering Auto – New Lacy Street Apt A in reference to a Chevtolet Impala broken into sometime last night. Report taken 

Agency Assist -West Spring Street. MPD assisted Walton County Sheriff’s Office with a felony traffic stop in reference to a stolen vehicle. All ok 

Assault – HWY 78 (Walton Truck Stop) In reference to an assault taking place at Davis Street between the complainant and her boyfriend. Report made. 

Traffic Offense -E Spring St & Midland Ave in reference to a black Honda Accord stopped for a non- functioning tag light. Probable cause search due to presence of marijuana. Passenger fled on foot. After brief foot pursuit, the subject was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, tampering with evidence. A second person was charged with Possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and Obstruction (misd).
