MPD Reports: Overnight fires being made too close to fuel pumps; COVID-19 and mental heath issues

The City of Monroe reported the following incidents for the period Jan. 7 – 14, 2021. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the first part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

Dispute – Baron Drive two parties having a verbal dispute. Situation mediated. One subject was also arrested for Probation Violation out of Jonesboro PD. Report made. 

Other Law – N. Broad St. Monroe Food Mart. In reference to the manager wanting to report that subjects were making fires too close to the fuel pumps overnight. Report taken. 

Other Law – W. Spring Street at Walmart. In reference to a juvenile left in a vehicle alone. Juvenile returned to proper guardians and report made. 

Suicide Threat – In Heritage Park. In reference to the complainant overhearing a female threatening suicide. Subject advised everything was ok and she didn’t want to hurt herself. 

Suspicious Person – W. Spring Street at Walmart. In reference to a female unable to stand and possibly stealing items. The female was identified and fter investigation, she was taken into custody for Reckless conduct, Criminal attempt, and Possession of Meth. Warrants to be taken and the subject was taken to jail. 

Shoplifting – S. Broad Street at Dollar General. In reference to a vehicle with a missing window that left location prior to officers’ arrival with an unknown number of items. Area checked with no contact. 

Dispute – In reference to a mother who is positive for COVID, disputing with her son who is refusing to wear a mask around her. Remedies given. 

Theft – Knight St. In reference to a blue bmx bike with blue tires that was stolen from Jack Peters per the complainant. Report taken. 

EMS Assist – Colquitt St. In reference to a 55-year-old female who has tested positive for COVID and now has a high fever and having difficulty breathing. Turned over to EMS. 

Agency Assist/Suspicious Vehicle – US 78 E. Approaching Monroe. Walton County Sheriff’s Office was able to stop the vehicle. Officers assisted with the traffic stop. 

Prowler – W Spring St. Haven Inn. In reference to the complainant advising that an occupant in another room called the front desk stating that someone was throwing rocks at their window. Upon Officers arrival it was apparent subject was suffering from mental issues. Area was checked. All ok. 

Theft Report – Stonecreek Bend. Complainant advised that she lost her phone in the parking lot of the Walton County Health Center on 01/07/2021. The phone is pinging at a location in Panama City Beach Florida. Report taken.
