MPD Reports: Police respond to several incidents involving mental health issues

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period July 3 – 9, 2020. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the final part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

Harassing Calls – E. Washington St.; Complainant stated subject is harassing her by phone. Complainant was advised of the legal remedies. 

Assault – HWY 138 Chic-Fil-A. Reference to three employees involved in a fight while at work. Two of the subjects involved were teenagers. Parents of teens contacted. No charges filed by any of the parties involved. 

EMS Assist – Matthews Park – EMS requested assistance with a white male that was possible on drugs. The white male was unruly and cited for disorderly conduct and released to his sister. 

Traffic Offense – HWY 78 Jim Daws; Reference a vehicle that was allegedly stolen out of Athens Clarke County. Traffic stop conducted on the vehicle and it was determined the vehicle was not stolen. Driver released. 

Disturbing the Peace – Plantation Dr. In reference to a call advising that a neighbor could hear loud yelling coming from this address. Contact was attempted at the residence. Negative Contact 

Dispute – Davis St. Reference to complainant wanting subject removed from the property. Subject was a guest of another tenant of the property. Complainant advised of Eviction process. 

Prowler – Magnolia Ter. Reference to complainant believing that someone was scratching at her bedroom window while she was trying to sleep. Area was searched with negative contact 

Threats – Walker Dr.; Complainant had questions regarding the legal process regarding his cousin. Complainant is concerned in reference to subjects threatening him and wants to get him some help. Complainant further stated that officers can bring subject to this location anytime he needs a place to stay or he will come to meet Officers and pick him up. 

Dispute – N. Broad St. Reference to two subjects yelling outside of a room. The male subject was gone when officers arrived. The female subject could not advise the identity of the male. During the investigation, it was discovered that the female had active warrants out of Athens – Clarke County. She arrested and transported to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office. 

Suspicious Person – W. Spring Harry’s Marathon – In reference to a person on the location that had been there for hours. The store clerk did not want the subject on location anymore. The subject advised to leave.

Dispute – Ridge Rd.; Two subjects were involved in a physical altercation. One was arrested for simple battery FVA, criminal trespass, cruelty to children 3rd degree (2 counts), and aggravated assault. 

Suspicious Vehicle – W. Spring St.; In reference to a vehicle parked behind the dumpster that was not on location during the previous alarm. Contact was made with the driver who is employed at the dialysis facility nearby and was taking a nap while on break. 

Suspicious Person – S. Broad St. Edward Jones Investments. Homeless subject sleeping on location. She was told to leave and did so. 

Dispute – Cook Pl. Complainant angry neighbor had a gun out when her dog went onto his property. The incident occurred last date, advised the complainant of leash law. 

Dispute – W. Spring St., Piedmont Walton. Mental Patient left ER and then returned prior to officer’s arrival. All ok. 

Shoplifting – E. Spring St., Short Stop. The shoplifter was gone when officers arrived. Employees advised everything was ok. 

Suspicious Person – E. Spring St., Short Stop. Ref to two b/m, one with blonde twists asking customers for money. Both were gone when officers arrived. 

Vehicle accident/recovered stolen vehicle – Pine Park St. and Church St. WCSO out with a disabled vehicle. Upon further investigation, it was determined the vehicle was stolen by a 16-year-old suspect from a local resident. The juvenile intake would not accept. He was released on a copy of the juvenile complaint. The vehicle was not previously reported stolen. 

Damage to property – S. Broad St., Wells Fargo. Area checked with negative contact, unable to locate complainant. 

Dispute – Custom Way. Complainant and neighbor exchanged words over boundaries. Situation mediated. 

Harassment -Sorrells St. Complainant advised she believes a coworker is stalking her and asked that a report be made for documentation. 

Theft report – Claywheel Cir. in reference to complainant getting her prescription medication taken from her porch by her neighbor. She was advised that a report would be done and to get her video footage and call back. 

Mental patient – West Spring St., Piedmont Walton. Officers stood by while mental patient was given medicine. 

Theft report – S. Madison Ave., WCSO. Ref to bank card lost from Wells Fargo ATM. 

Suspicious Vehicle – Mill Creek Way. Black dodge passenger car speeding and reckless in neighborhood. Area searched with negative contact. 

Threats – S. Madison Ave. Animal control advised they received threats over the phone. The caller lives in county, county was advised. 

Damage to property – N. Broad St. Ref to a hit in run with a truck and trailer vs. power pole and mailbox. Unable to make contact with the victim. Report taken. 

Theft – E. Marable St. Complainant advised an unknown subject joined him and his friends in a game of basketball. When the subject left, complainants’ wallet was missing. Report taken. 

Scam – S. Broad St., Southside MHP, Ref to scam via text messages, advised of remedies. 

Scam – S. Broad St; Complainant reported receiving text messages requesting him to send money or be subject to arrest by FBI. Remedies advised. All ok. 

Assault – Breedlove Dr; Ridgeview. Responding EMS unit advised patient with lacerations to the face stated injuries were the result of an assault. Upon further investigation it was determined that allegations of assault were unfounded. Injuries to subject were self-inflicted and result of subject attempting to barricade himself in a bathroom. Contact made with alleged victim at Piedmont Walton. Report taken. 

Suspicious person – Harris St. In reference to black male standing in complainant’s yard. Made contact with male sitting behind Jack Peters drinking alcoholic beverages. Subject was unwilling to return back to residence with family. Subject was then detained, due to being criminally trespassed from Jack Peters. Subject resisted being handcuffed, was then tased, handcuffed and transported to Piedmont Walton for mental evaluation. Piedmont Walton administered tests on subject and gave him medication, then released to his Aunt. 

Theft/Follow Up – Claywill Cir. Fallow up on a call taken earlier by an officer. 

Dispute – W. Spring St. Piedmont Walton. Hospital staff reporting that a patient was being unruly. Situation mediated, all ok. 

Dispute – Walton Rd. In reference to dispute between complainant and husband. Parties separated for the night. 

Civil dispute – S. Broad St. Southside MHP. In reference to a trailer that was purchased. Remedies advised. All ok. 

Dispute – Sorrells St. In reference to a subject breaking things. The subject was gone when officers arrived. The complainant was advised of the civil process. All ok
