MPD Reports: Shots fired, business burglarized and 90-year-old in need of help with a heater

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following reports for the period June 11 – 18, 2020. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the final part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Shots Fired – Sorrells St. Report of shots fired in the area. Contact made with subjects spent shell casings located. Report was taken. 
  • Theft Report – E. Church St. Dexter Coin Laundry – A male subject was arrested for Theft by Taking for stealing a laundry cart and radio from the office area of the laundry mat. Report was taken.
  • Dispute – Maple St. Dispute between two parties in reference to retrieving pet cat and report of juveniles being sprayed with pepper spray. Report of juveniles being sprayed with pepper spray discovered to be unfounded. Situation mediated and remedies advised. All ok.
  • Suspicious Person – McDaniel St. In reference to a juvenile on a location that advised she was walking to get away from home due to her being abused. The juvenile was taken to Atha St. to be turned over to her mother. Upon dropping off the juvenile at her residence a subject was on location and placed under arrest for violation of court order. DFACS was notified and responded. Report taken.
  • Found Property – W. Marable St.- In reference to a debit card located at the Walton Inn. Turned over to Walton County Sheriff’s Office.
  • Follow Up – Atha St. in reference to transporting a child to Mansfield, GA to be with Aunt due to a safety concern with her living with the mother. Supplement added to the report.
  • Property Damage – Magnolia Terr. The complainant wanted to report four teenagers banging on her back door and her clothesline was cut early this date.
  • Fraud – Magnolia Terr. Handled by phone, all ok. The report was taken.
  • Warrant attempt – S. Madison Ave. A subject was on location with a felony probation violation warrant. WCSO confirmed the warrant but refused to accept the subject. He was released on location.
  • Fraud – N. Madison Ave. Handled by phone. The complainant wanted to make police aware that he has been receiving fraudulent telephone calls.
  • Suspicious Person – North Broad St. and Court St. Subject on location, dancing and talking to herself for several hours. She appeared to be suffering from a mental health episode but did not want help. She was advised to leave and did.
  • Harassment – Arcadia Ct. Complainant reported her ex-boyfriend was spreading nude videos of her.
  • Discharging firearms – Monroe Estates. The property manager advised he heard 3-5 shots from the swampy area between them and Young Pines. The area was searched with negative contact.
  • Fight – Store House Ct. – In reference to approximately 30 subjects fighting and a juvenile hit with a brick. Officers arrived on the scene only to find out that it was a false report.
  • Suspicious Person – E. Spring St.; Short Stop. Subject sleeping on the sidewalk. The subject sent on his way. All ok.
  • Dispute – Monroe Motor Inn – In reference to two subjects having an argument over money. Contact was made with a subject, the subject advised everything was fine. Information was run on one and she came back having a warrant out of Barrow Co. She was arrested and brought to the WCSO Jail.
  • 911 Hang Up/Dispute – Glenwood Dr. In reference to a physical altercation between two subjects. After investigation, one was taken into custody for FV Battery. He was transported to the WCSO jail without further incident. The warrant was taken.
  • Theft – E. Marable St. in reference to the complainant having two outside cameras stolen from her residence.
  • Burglary – W. Spring St. (Boost Mobile): In reference to a business being burglarized overnight. CID notified. TOT CID and Crime Scene. Report was taken.
  • Unknown Law – S. Madison Ave. in reference to an elderly female in need of assistance. Contact made with a 90-year-old subject wanting help with her space heater.
  • Assault – Carver Place – In reference to a juvenile hitting another juvenile. made contact with a male juvenile, told him the outcome of what would have happened if he was older.
  • Prowler – Arcadia Ct. Complainant stated she heard someone knocking on her son’s bedroom window. She stated her son was out of town with his girlfriend. She stated she saw a black male get in a silver minivan and leave the scene. Officer performed a traffic stop on a vehicle matching that description with three black male occupants. They stated that they went there to pick up “Tae”. Covington took their photos and sent them to me and the complainant stated that those were her son’s friends. The vehicle’s occupants were sent on their way.
  • Traffic Stop -Birch St. & E. Marable St. Reference to a white Dodge passenger car with a non-functioning taillight. During the course of the traffic it was discovered that the driver was in possession of marijuana. While being processed at WCSO he was discovered to be in possession of methamphetamine. He was charged with Possession of Schedule II. Possession of Marijuana less than 1oz. Crossing Guard Line with contraband. Reckless Driving.
  • Dispute – Stonecreek Bend. The complainant called concerned that her friend said her ex-boyfriend had threatened to kill her due to a recent breakup. The complainant was advised of the Temporary Process Order process and to call if there were any more threats or if he came to her house.
