MPD Reports: Slew of complaints of water balloons thrown at passing vehicles

Monroe, Ga. – The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period May 23 – 30, 2019. Due to the length, this report has been split into four parts. This is the third part.

  • Follow-Up – S. Madison Ave. in reference to securing the residence for the Criminal Investigation Division and locating the father from the 8-year-old allegedly given Opioids by his father.. The subject was located and transported to the Monroe Police Department to be questioned by Criminal Investigation Division.
  • Juvenile Complaint – New Lacy St. in reference to a 2-year-old child locking his mother out of the residence.
  • Damage to Property – Perry St. in reference to people throwing water balloons at passing vehicles. Made contact with a group of subjects on Perry St. at Launius Ave. They advised it was an accident. No damage was caused to anything in the area. All ok.
  • Juvenile Complaint – Tanglewood Dr.  Complainant has an issue with children in the neighborhood playing with water balloons.
  • Found Property – Wallet found in the area of Childers Park. The property was submitted into evidence for safekeeping.
  • Animal Complaint – 6th Street. in reference to 4 cats stuck in storm drain. Cats were freed by Monroe Police Department and turned over to a neighbor.
  • Dispute) at 115 East Spring Street in reference to a passerby reporting a female sounding distressed while speaking to a male. Contact made with several groups who advised female discovered she was being cheated on and confronted boyfriend. All parties were GOA.
  • Harassment – Sporty Ln. Complainant stating that the subject is now calling and texting her and will not leave her alone. Report taken.
  • Dispute -N. Midland and Edwards St. Reference being flagged down by regarding a juvenile issue.  A juvenile left the residence sometime late in the night without the mother’s knowledge. The juvenile was returned home. All ok
  • Illegal Parking – E. Washington St. in reference to a tan Honda Accord parked in a handicap parking space. Contact was made with the vehicle owner who advised he would move it. All ok.
  • Dispute – Vine St. Verbal and physical dispute between 5 subjects. Warrant to be taken against Chelsea Pace for Family Violence simple battery X 2. Officer spoke with Chelsea via phone and she stated she would turn herself in on Monday.
  • Drug Activity – Ridge Rd. in reference to the property manager reporting subjects smoking marijuana on location. Officer made contact with three subjects. Marijuana was recovered from a backpack and was placed into evidence to be destroyed. Subjects were given a verbal warning and released. Report taken.
  • Warrant Attempt) at 515-A Green Street in reference to locating Willie Taylor. The subject was located in the bed asleep and arrested without incident. He was transported to the Walton County Jail. Supplemental to original report.
  • Structure Fire – Masters Dr. in reference to a fully engulfed house. All occupants were out on arrival. Turned over to Monroe Fire Department.
  • Damage to Property – Pine Park St. in reference to complainant advising a water balloon struck her 2005 Kia Spectra causing heavy damage to her windshield. She advised two b/m’s in their mid-20’s threw the water balloon from the bed of a red truck. Report taken.
  • Damage to Property – Old Mill Pt. in reference to the same subjects from an earlier call throwing water balloons from a white in color pick-up truck causing damage to Nedra Barnett’s 1992 Honda Accord. Report taken.
  • Suspicious Person / Vehicles – Perry St. in reference to two pick-up trucks driving in the area with juveniles in the back.  Juveniles throwing water balloons at people and vehicles. Subjects were gone on arrival.
  • Traffic Stop – Tanglewood Dr. in reference to subjects shooting water balloons out of vehicle and driving reckless. Subject transported to the Monroe Police Department to complete a juvenile complainant for driving without a license and reckless driving. Juvenile released to her mother.
  • Suspicious activity – Golden Pantry. Large crowd in parking lot throwing water balloons. Crowed was advised to leave. All ok
  • Dispute – Lacy St. In reference to someone using the complainant’s water. Juveniles advised to only use approved water.
  • Water Balloons – Lacy St. Subjects throwing water at cars. Area checked. All ok
  • Juvenile complaint – Tanglewood Dr. Juveniles fighting. Sent home with parents and told to go inside and stay out of streets.
  • Traffic Stop/Arrest – on Harris St. at Magnolia St. Subject stopped for no headlights and arrested for suspended license.
  • Water Balloons – Pine Park St. in reference to female who was sitting in the common area of parking lot getting upset that she was splashed by accident by children playing with water balloons.  She was advised that it was a common area and if she did not want to be around the children playing then she needed to relocate herself.
