MPD Reports: Stolen vehicle, theft from Home Depot, car towed from handicap parking

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Jan. 9 – 16, 2020. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the first part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Child abuse – Gliding Ln. In reference to a child molestation that occurred in 2018. The incident also continued through 2019 at an address in the county. Turned over to Criminal Investigation Division. 
  • Theft report – Maple St. Ref to a food theft. Complainant requested to canceled prior to officer arrival and advised the sausage was returned.
  • Theft report – Bold Springs Rd., All Star. Complainant advised his wallet was possibly taken from Piedmont Walton.
  • Animal complaint – Hwy 11 and Hwy 78. Complainant advised he observed a b/m pull over in a red Dodge p/u and abuse a dog. Contact made with vehicle at Charlotte Rowell. The subject advised the puppy defecated in his vehicle and he pulled over to clean it out. All ok.
  • Traffic stop – W. Spring St., and the Library. Subject arrested for Driving While License Suspended and expired tag.
  • Trespassing – Vine St., Monroe Auto Sales. Subject was barred from the property.
  • Stolen Vehicle – W. Spring St., Roses Express. In reference to a white Ford Focus taken by Cody Raper at the government building earlier this morning. Vehicle was located later by GSP in the county. Raper was charged with Theft by taking motor vehicle.
  • Welfare Check – S. Broad St., Southside MHP – Officers checked on subject, who was feeling depressed. Subject followed officers to Advantage to seek help.
  • Juvenile complaint – Breedlove Dr., Ridgeview Mental Hospital. Ref to 15-year-old refusing to go inside the building. Juvenile went into hospital, all ok.
  • Request to meet – Bryant Rd., Athens Tech. School administrator requesting to ban a student on location. The complainant decided to wait for campus police before making a decision. All okay.
  • Prisoner transport – Alcovy St. Probation office. Two subjects transported to Walton County Jail for probation violation warrants.
  • Trespassing – Vine St., Monroe Auto Sales. Subject arrested for trespassing after being served with a bar notice this morning.
  • Extra Patrol – at AT&T at 152 MLK Jr Blvd in reference to an armed robbery that occurred at the AT&T store in Newton County last date.
  • Theft Report – E. Marable St. In reference to the complainant reporting parts being removed from Vehicle. Report declined.
  • Suspicious Vehicle – S. Broad St. Chevron – In reference to a gray in color Honda Civic with a black primer hood and bumper sitting at the gas station during the morning and evening hours asking customers for money and possibly selling drugs. A picture is available of the vehicle.
  • Civil Issue – Hubbard St. Subjects arguing over custody issues. Parties were advised of options.
  • Suspicious Person – Vine St. – In reference to a subject being on location after signing a Criminal Trespass warning on 1/9/20. He was arrested and brought to jail for Criminal Trespass.
  • Theft – W. Spring St. (Home Depot) – In reference to Ricky Johnson arrested for stealing $1300 of product from Home Depot.
  • Fraud – Magnolia Ter. in reference to someone hacking the complainant’s phone. Complainant reporting cell phone issues after letting her friend use her phone. The complainant was advised to contact her cell phone provider.
  • Monroe PD. in reference to a subject having an outstanding warrant for probation violation. Arrested, taken to Walton Co. jail. Car impounded for parking in handicap space.
  • Threats – McDaniel St. – in reference to subject stating that he was going to do some property damage to complainants’ residence. Complainant wanted the incident to be documented. Report taken
