MPD Reports: Subject runs when he realizes he’s being recorded on Ring camera; man slaps his girlfriend after taking car without her permission

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Aug. 22 – 29, 2024. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the third part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

• Disturbing the Peace – N Broad St; Wayfair Hotel – In reference to an anonymous complainant, report subjects making noise. Contact was made with several subjects in the lobby, who advised they were lodging at the Hotel. They were advised to keep the noise level down. All ok.
• Suspicious Person – Hubbard St; – In reference to a male knocking on the door at the listed address and quickly running away toward Hammond Park after realizing he was being recorded on a Ring Camera. Area patrolled with negative contact.
• Disturbing the Peace – Plaza Dr; – residence were advised to turn the music down. All ok.
• Traffic Stop – Hwy 78/East Marable Bridge – Male subject taken into custody for active warrant out of Hall County.
• Suspicious Vehicle – Hwy 138 & Michael Etchison – Walton County Sheriff’s Officed advised of a vehicle driving slow headed toward city limits. The complainant advised the vehicle turned onto Michael Etchison and did not provide a tag. Officers were unable to locate vehicle.
• Roadway Obstruction – Glen Iris Dr at Stowers – In reference to cones blocking the roadway. Construction work is being done on Glen Iris and there are multiple cones in the roadway, blocking pot holes. Cones that had been knocked over were sat upright and the construction crew were notified so they could put them back the way they had them.
• Traffic Stop – Hwy 78/138 Exit in reference to a traffic stop on a Toyota Camry because the register owner had a Failure To Appear warrant out of Fulton County. He was transported to WCSO.
• Narcotics – Oak Ridge – In reference to the complainants neighbor smoking marijuana and she could smell it. Area checked, no odor of marijuana detected.
• Traffic Stop – Hwy 78/Hwy 11 – Female subject placed under arrest for possession of schedule 1.
• Traffic Stop/Arrest – Sorrells St – Male subject arrested for Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule II, Tampering with Evidence, and multiple other charges following a traffic stop.
• Dispute – Towler St; – In reference to complainant wanting his girlfriend to leave the residence. Determined that she had established residency at the residence. Advised of the eviction process.
• Trespassing – Stonecreek Bnd – In reference to the complainant stating people were in the pool that were not supposed to be there. The parties in the pool were residents and lived in the neighborhood. Remedies were advised for a civil issue.
• Traffic Stop -S Madison/Mr Quick’s – In reference to a named subject being stopped for expired registration and tag violation. He was taken into custody for driving on suspended license and released on a copy of the citation. The female passenger was cited for an open container and possession of marijuana. The vehicle was towed by Taylors and hold placed.
• Dispute – Cook Pl – In reference to the boyfriend taking the car without the girlfriend’s permission. Boyfriend returned with girlfriend’s vehicle and slapped his girlfriend across the face in front of her at the residence in which they both reside. He was arrested for Simple Battery FVA.
