MPD Reports: Suicide attempt, possible heroin overdose and 14-year-old with loaded gun

The  City of Monroe Police Department reported the following Community Alerts for the period Nov. 9 – 15, 2018. Due to the length, this report has been split into four parts. This is the first part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute an arrest.

  • Suspicious Person, East Church St., reference to a female subject being on location sleeping in the store. The female subject stated she took Ambien and was still feeling the effects. The female subject was transported to her friend’s house located on Sporty Lane without incident. Everything on location ok.
  • Traffic Stop, Highschool Ave./East Washington St., the driver was stopped in her 2002 Explorer for no insurance. She was cited and the vehicle was towed by towing co,
  • Dispute, Custom Way, reference to complainant waking up and not being able to find his pain pills believing his cousin and her boyfriend might’ve taken them while he was sleeping and were both gone when officers arrived. Report taken.
  • Found Property, East Spring Street – Sunshine Center Laundromat in reference to complainant finding a wallet and clothing in one of the dryers. Officer attempted to make contact with the owner at the address listed on ID with negative contact. The property will be submitted into evidence. Report taken.
  • Counterfeit, Great Oaks Dr., Sears in reference to a B/F passing a fake $100 bill last date. Report taken.
  • Child Custody, South Broad St., Monroe Police Department, reference to mother requesting an incident report to prevent named subject from coming back to her property to see her daughter and granddaughter.
  • Persons with Drugs, Ridge Road outside of apt., reference to a male and female subject on location possibly smoking weed. The subjects were leaving the area upon Officers arrival. The male subject rode a bike through the wood line. An area check was conducted with negative contact.
  • Suspicious Persons, Cloverdale Dr., reference to two B/M trying to make entry into her residence. The complainant stated two elderly B/M in a champagne older model Toyota Camry pulled into her driveway. One of the males tried to make entry into her residence when he thought no one was home. The complainant said she confronted the male who believed he had been at his sister’s residence. Both males left the area. Officer had negative contact.
  • Harassment, South Broad St., Monroe Police Department. Complainant requested info on how to get her son’s girlfriend to stop calling him. She was advised her son wished to be in a relationship with the said female and that he was a grown adult and could make his own decisions.
  • Dispute, South Broad St., Walgreens, the complainant was upset that Walgreens pharmacy refused to fill his prescriptions for morphine due to new restrictions placed by the DEA. Report taken upon request.
  • Welfare Check, Heritage Dr., reference to checking on a female subject. Officer made contact with subject everything on location ok.
  • Shoplifting, South Broad St., reference to a subject stealing a box of cake mix. Arrested for Shoplifting and Disorderly Conduct.
  • Missing Person, Breedlove Dr., reference to male subject running away from Ridgeview due to excessive wait times for being admitted as well as reading negative reviews of the care. He was located and requested to be taken to Piedmont/Walton ER. Report Taken
  • Dispute, Plaza Ridge Trace, reference to daughter being put out by her mother.  Daughter showed up with her stuff on the porch outside.  I advised the daughter of the legal process. Mother was not on scene at this time.
  • Dispute, West Spring St., Captain Ds., Fight between employees Camron Lewis and Tyronte Sloss. Both parties were arrested for Disorderly Conduct.
  • Welfare, West Spring St., Captain D’s., reference to husband not able to get in touch with the manager. She was advised to contact her husband. All ok
  • Traffic Stop on South Broad St. at 6th St., the driver stopped for traffic violation.  The front seat passenger was found to be in possession of 27 grams of marijuana.  He was cited and released for possession of marijuana less than 1 ounce.
  • Dispute, West Spring St., Huddle House, reference to a customer who was intoxicated getting into a verbal argument with the cook.  The situation was resolved prior to police arrival.  Customer left.
  • Area Check, Knight St., reference to someone knocking on complainant’s door and not being there when she checked. Area checked with negative contact.
  • Mental Issues, Sycamore Court, reference to a female subject wanting a ride to Piedmont Walton. Upon arrival she decided she wanted to go home. Taken home and returned to parents.
  • 911 Hang Up, Sycamore Court, reference to a female subject from above call calling multiple times to the 911 center and cussing out the dispatchers.  Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities was contacted and the mobile crisis service responded.  After speaking with officers and female subject.  They signed a mental eval order and female subject was taken to Piedmont Walton by the officers for further help.
  • Suspicious Person, West Spring St., Walmart, reference to a homeless B/M on location. Asst. Manager advised the male subject is on location every night and has been asked multiple times to leave the store over the course of several days. Officers made contact with the male subject who was served with a criminal trespass warning for one year. While on the scene, Walmart advised of two other people sleeping on location. They were identified as a male and female subject. Both subjects were sent on their way.
  • Traffic Stop, South Madison Ave./East Church St., Officer observed a vehicle with a brake light out. After pulling the vehicle over and running the tag through GCIC, the driver (Cedrick Jackson) was determined to have a warrant through Walton County Sheriff’s Office. He was arrested and transported to the jail without incident.
  • Entering Auto, Baron Dr., sometime after 0000 hours this date an unknown subject broke out the glass of complainant 2016 Dodge Charger. Clothing, Nike Shoes, and Hats were reported missing. Report taken.
  • Fraud, South Broad St., complainant advised last date around 1400 hours an unknown subject attempted to withdraw money out of his account at Wells Fargo at the ATM. The charges were declined and he did not lose money. Report taken.
  • Traffic stop on Mayfield Dr./Plaza Dr.,  a tan Toyota Corolla was stopped for display of tags. After identifying the driver and passengers, Joshua Rivera was found to have an active warrant out of Athens-Clarke County. The warrant was confirmed and Rivera was taken into custody. He was transported to the Walton Jail without incident.
  • Vehicle Accident, East Washington St./South Madison Ave., reference to a 2-vehicle crash. Jonrunte Smith the driver of the vehicle at fault was arrested for driving without a valid driver’s license. Juvenile age 14 was in the same vehicle as Smith; he was found to be in possession of a loaded Glock 42. Juvenile was placed under arrest for possession of a firearm under the age of 18. Jonrunte Smith was fingerprinted and released on a copy of the citation. Officer contacted Juvenile Intake in reference to juvenile; he was released to his stepmother and father. A juvenile complaint will be filed. Report taken.
  • Shoplifting, West Spring St., Walmart, reference to Wesey Devore observed shoplifting by employees. Devore was arrested and cited for Shoplifting and Criminal Trespass, fingerprinted, and transported to the Jail.
  • Dispute, North Broad St., reference to a B/M disputing with the clerk over money. During the dispute, the unknown male threw items to the floor and left with two cases of beer.
  • Verbal Dispute, North Broad St., Waffle House, Officer made contact with the Manager on duty and she advised two unknown males came into the restaurant listening to vulgar music and being disrespectful to the staff. The staff asked the subjects to leave and they continued to argue. The subjects left in a black Ford car.
  • Shoplifting, East Spring St., Dollar General, reference to three juveniles, shoplifting.  Officers located two of the juveniles and both were barred from Dollar General.
  • Assault, Pine Park St., the complainant advised she was outside playing basketball when she was jumped by unknown subjects. She advised they punched her and threw her on the ground and ran off. She could only recognize one as “Shug” but could not provide any further details. Complainant was checked and cleared by EMS and declined a report. She only wanted to make officer aware.
  • Shoplifting, West Spring St., Walmart, April  McElwaney was arrested for shoplifting.
  • Shoplifting, West Spring St., Walmart. Sherry Lovelace was arrested for shoplifting.
  • Custody Dispute, Gliding Lane, reference to male subject drinking while in custody of child violating custody agreement. Report taken.
  • Suicide Attempt, Magnolia Terrace, the female subject took an unknown quantity of pills. The female subject stated she did not know why she took the pills.
  • Discharging Firearms, Carwood Dr., patrolled area and had negative contact. All appeared to be okay.
  • Loud Music, South Broad St., reference to small gathering with speaker. Music at an acceptable level but bass too loud. Advised to turn bass down.
  • Traffic Stop, Walker Dr., Terry Peavy stopped for a traffic violation by an officer.  Mr. Peavy consented to a search of his vehicle and was found to be in possession of 19 grams of methamphetamine, a small quantity of marijuana and a digital scale.  Officer’s attempted to place Mr. Peavy under arrest and he ran from Officers on foot behind the residence.  Multiple taser cartridge were deployed and Mr. Peavy was apprehended.  He was medically cleared by Walton EMS Officials on the scene and he was again cleared by the nurse at the Walton County Jail.  He was charged with Possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, possession of marijuana less than 1 ounce and obstruction of law enforcement.
  • EMS Assist, Pine Park St., male subject suspected heroin Overdose. Turned over to EMS.
  • Dispute, Magnolia Terrace, Parties left the location before officer’s arrival. All ok
  • Loud Music in area of GW Carver. Spoke with group of teens in area of GW Carver Cir. advised group to go inside and keep noise down. Group began to head to residences.
  • Dispute, MLK JR. BLVD, reference to customer causing a disturbance at Applebee’s. Subject was gone when officers arrived. Company wishes to criminally trespass him if he should return.
