MPD Reports: Suspect allegedly changes check from $900 to $1,900 for residential work

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period April 11 – 17, 2019. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the first part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Missing Person – S. Broad St.-Caring Hearts. Subject left in a silver 4 door Kia and she has Dementia and Schizophrenia possibly headed towards Winder. While on the scene, the subject returned. The car has No Insurance/Suspended Tag. After speaking to the subject’s son, and with the subject’s mental state and the fact she was not comprehending what I was explaining to her, a driver evaluation was completed.
  • Burglary – Felker St. – In reference to forced entry in rear. Nothing found to be missing at this point. A subject was issued a citation for disorderly conduct while attempting to handle the incident.
  • Follow Up – Felker St. – In reference to the subject finding missing items after the burglary. Information added to the report.
  • Follow Up – at MPD – In reference to more information on the burglary at Felker Street. Information added to the report.
  • Wanted Person – Alcovy St. – In reference to a subject. Probation withdrew warrant due to a clerical mistake.
  • Suspicious Person – W. Spring St.: Hispanic male and female couple with a baby holding up a sign.  As soon as they saw the officer they went to their van. They were advised of the loitering law and they quickly left the parking lot.
  • Wanted Person – New Lacy St.: subject with a red shirt. He was arrested for a Probation Violation.
  • Damage to Property – S. Broad St.: Complainant requesting a report in reference to documenting grass on her car from lawn service. Report taken.
  • Threats – Captain D’s.  The manager stated a female called attempting to get free food. Once she was told she needed a receipt she became irate and threatened to come to the restaurant. The female gave the name of Nicole.  The manager wanted Police to be aware in case she shows up.  All ok at the time.
  • Fight – W. Spring St.: Moniqua Weaver arrested for battery, obstruction after starting a fight with the manager at Wendy’s. Moniqua was tased and subsequently medically cleared prior to being released to Walton County Sherriff’s Office. Warrants to be taken.
  • Burglary in Progress – Walton Cir. in reference to a white male being inside the residence.  The male was located in the yard of Walton Circle upon Officers arrival.  After being detained it was determined that he did enter the residence at Walton Circle without permission.  The victims stated they did not know who the subject was. He admitted to using methamphetamine on this date and was taken into custody for criminal trespass.
  • Child Abuse – Etten Dr. in reference to complainant reporting that her grandson is being abused by his stepfather. Criminal Investigation Division was notified and a DFACS referral was completed. Report taken
  • Harassment / Threats – Booth Dr. Complainant advised she was being threatened by an unknown person. Report taken.
  • Damage to Property – E. Marable St.. Complainant advised an unknown vehicle struck his vehicle at The Home Depot. Report taken
  • Fraud – MPD   – Complainant stated she wrote a $900 check to a subject who did work for her at her residence. She stated he altered the check to $1900 and cashed it. Report taken.
  • Damage to Property – S. Broad St. – CVS in reference to a Toyota Tacoma striking the fence and leaving the scene. Report taken.
  • Agency Assist – Armistead Circle in reference to assisting DFACS with earlier child abuse allegations.
  • Shoplifting – W. Spring St – Walmart. An employee was caught on video multiple times scanning barcodes that were cheaper than merchandise and allowing customers to purchase cheaper items. He was taken into custody and issued citations for Shoplifting.
