MPD Reports: Tag light infraction nets warrant arrests of driver and passenger; female subject wanted to report that voices were telling her of a death

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Oct. 4 – 10, 2024. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the final part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

• Unknown Law – Tall Oaks W- Complainant called in reference to her son possibly being killed, upon speaking with Complainant she began to state that she heard voices informing her of the death. Complainant advised that her son resides in Toccoa, when attempting to advise her to contact Tocca she advised that she was going to call Washington D.C about the incident.
• EMS Assist – Bold Springs Ave- Med call, police not needed. Turned over to EMS.
• Vehicle Accident – Hwy 11/Hwy 138- Three vehicle accident with Damage to Property- 140 Blaine St @ MPD- In reference to the complainant requesting to make a report in regards to his vehicle being dented in the Quality Foods parking lot the previous week. Report taken.
• Welfare Check – West Spring St; Walmart- Welfare check on subject. Subject was an elderly man who suffered a stroke previously and not in condition to drive. Subject’s family members arrived and were able to take him home. EMS checked subject and all appeared okay.
• EMS assist – E. Church St.- Reference to MFD needing an officer to stand by till another caretaker arrived.
• Lost Item – 140 Blaine St @ MPD- In reference to Complainant reported that she lost her wallet on the previous date. Report taken.
• Funeral Escort – Hwy 78/Hwy 138 -Assisted Georgia State Patrol and Walton County Sheriff’s Office with a transport.
• Vehicle inspection – Harris St.- Complainant requesting the VIN to be checked to ensure the vehicle he had purchased was not stolen, all appeared okay with the vehicle.
• 911 Hang-Up – E. Spring St; Monroe Motor Inn- Contact was made with the complainant who advised he did not call, upon speaking to others they advised that he had a dispute with a subject who provided him a ride earlier. The caller again stated that nothing had happened. Units returned to service.
• Suspicious Vehicle – S Hammond Dr @ Hammond Park- In reference to someone offloading sticks and throwing them in a ditch.
• Suspicious Vehicle – Hwy 78 East & Cherry Hill Rd- In reference to a semi truck failing to maintain lane, caller lost contact. Negative contact.
• Vehicle Unlock – Johns Supermarket – Vehicle unlocked with no damage.
• Traffic Stop/Impound – North Broad Street @ Franks Valero – The vehicle was impounded due to having no insurance, expired registration and suspended registration.
• Suspicious Vehicle – Pine Park; Eastview Cemetery: In reference to the complainant advising of a vehicle sitting in the cemetery. Contact was made with a female subject who advised she was just sitting in the cemetery. All appeared ok and she was sent on her way.
• Accident – McDaniel Street – Two vehicle accident, no injuries Turned over to Traffic Unit.
• Suspicious Vehicle- Hwy 78 East Youth Monroe DOT Monroe, negative contact with vehicle – passed on to the County.
• Verbal Dispute – GW Carver Cir. – Three subjects were having a verbal dispute at no time was it physical between the parties. All parties were separated, report taken.
• Traffic Stop/Arrest – Hwy 138 – Vehicle stopped for a tag light violation and RO having an active warrant. The driver was arrested for a FTA warrant out of Clayton CO. The passenger also had an active warrant out of Greene CO and was charged with Forgery in the 1st and Financial Identity Fraud. Both subjects were arrested and transported to the WCSO Jail.
• Dispute – E Spring St: In reference to the complainant advising she was slapped by her boyfriend at her residence on Cook St. No visible signs of injury were present. Complainant advised that her boyfriend fled the scene and was unsure of his whereabouts. The subject has active warrants through Barrow County. Complainant was advised of the Temporary Protection Order process and remedies were advised.
• Alarm – East Spring Street – Employees were on location. All okay.
• Vehicle Unlock – Clubview Ct – In reference to a Nissan Altima. Vehicle unlocked. No damage.
• Theft – 203 East Spring St in reference to a female subject attempting to steal a bottle of wine. When confronted was confronted by an employee, she took the wine out of her pants and put it back and left. She was located and was placed under arrest.
• Suicide Threats – Oak Ridge – In reference to the complainant stating subject was making statements of suicide. Contact was made and it was determined subject suffers from a chronic disease and was in a lot of pain. Subject requested medical treatment. He was taken to Piedmont Walton for his medical condition.
• Fraud – 140 Blaine Street in reference to Complainant claimed someone took $291.00 off of his food stamp card.
• Transport – Ridge Dr – In reference to giving subject a ride to Taylor’s Wrecker Service to pick up her vehicle.
• Roadway Obstruction – Hwy 78 EB @ Aycock Ave – In reference to a report of wood in the roadway. Roadway cleared.
• Other Law – Kendall Ct. – In reference to a request to speak with juveniles about their behavior. All OK on location.
• Fraud – 140 Blaine Street – in reference to complainant who said someone stole $226.00 out of her Food Stamp Card.
• Suspicious Vehicle – West Spring Street – In reference to a vehicle failing to maintain lane per complainant. Officer followed the vehicle. Negative infractions observed.
• Agency Assist – In reference to assisting WCSO with a funeral escort through the City.
• Vehicle Accident – W Spring St- Handled by traffic unit.
• Vehicle Lockout – N Broad St- In reference to a silver Chevy Impala. Vehicle unlocked. No damage.
• Transport – 140 Blaine Street in reference to transport of a subject to the Walton County Jail for booking.
• Other Law – E Fambrough St. – In reference to juvenile not wanting to go to her dad’s house. It was explained to juvenile that her dad has custody of her and she has to go with him.
• Dispute – Elm Pl – In reference to a dispute between two subjects. There was no physical contact between the parties and subject was gone when officers arrived. Report taken.
• Suspicious Person – E Spring St. In reference to a white female on location sitting on the sidewalk and appearing distraught. Female was gone when officers arrived.
• Traffic Stop – S Broad St at Walker Dr. Vehicle was towed by Taylor’s Wrecker Service for no insurance and the driver was issued a citation. Report taken.
• Suspicious Person – S Madison Ave; Quick Pick Food Mart. In reference to the complainant advising that an unknown named white male has been harassing her. Report taken
• Arrest- Traffic stop – for tag light. Named subject was driving without a valid driver’s license.
• Suspicious Person – Marathon on West Spring St. Clerk advised the male was rude and harassing customers. The subject was served with a criminal trespass warning.
• Area Check – Boulevard. In reference to an unsecured residence. Dispatch attempted to contact the homeowner but had negative contact. Residence was cleared and secured. All appeared ok.
• Suspicious Person – W Spring St/Bankers BLVD- In reference to witnessing three juveniles leaving George Walton Academy property. Contact was made with the individuals. The juveniles were given a ride home after contact was made with their parents
• Suspicious Person – S Madison Ave; Cotton Mills. In reference to subject on location after hours. Subject was sent on his way.
